Macross Frontier Release Date?

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Well it’s already November and there are no news on the Macross Frontier release, which was rumored to be on October 2007. I am guessing that the rumor stems from the fact that Macross had its 25th anniversary on October 2007, and Macross Frontier was said to be an anniversary release.

The Macross World Forums have gotten wind that the animation will be released 2009, but I couldn’t find their source of this information. Their discussion on the new TV series could be found on this thread, which has 43 pages now as I make this post. (more…)

Aquarion Element Gattai Versions Review

Karaoke!

Here’s my review of the butchery I mean character versions of the three select Sousei no Aquarion songs that were remade for the Aquarion Pachinko game. Listen to samples of the songs at the Victor Website.

Sousei no Aquarion (Apollo, Sylvia, Reika) - Among the three songs in this release, I’d say that this is the best song in the lot. But I couldn’t review this song without any bias because this happens to be my favorite AKINO song (and she happens to nail it). The mixing of the three voices in the chorus in this version is pretty good, no one really stood out but they all supported each other’s voices. I am assuming that the girl who sings the verses is Reika, then Sylvia, am I correct? I’m particularly liking the timbre of Sylvia’s voice, but she has a bit of problem reaching the very high notes.

Go Tight! (Apollo, Sylvia, Reika) - This song starts out with Apollo singing, and was a less than spectacular start since his voice wasn’t striking enough. The voice actors have a bit of trouble pronouncing the English words, but that’s in comparison to AKINO who actually knows how to speak English. After the intro, I am guessing that the order of singing is Reika, Silvia, Apollo, then altogether in the chorus. I distinguished Reika from Silvia because of the low-ish pitch and a slight rasp in Reika’s voice. Silvia has the best voice among the three. The song suffers with too much vocal synthesization in the bridge, which I think it could have done without.

Kouya no Heath (Rena) - This song really gives the impression that an anime character is singing it. (more…)
