Origa’s Live Performance of Turn-A Gundam’s Moon

Friday, April 20th, 2007

So. I made this crappy slideshow of Origa singing “Moon” + “Tsuki no Mayu/Moon’s Cocoon” live from the Turn-A Gundam concert. I made it in order to clarify some fans’ perception that Origa sang the original “Moon”, when Gabriela did so. The first part of the performance is “Moon” written and originally performed by Gabriela Robin. The second part “Tsuki no Mayu” is written by Lin Iogi, originally performed by Aki Okui.

Here is a sample of the original “Moon” by Gabriela Robin:

Photos in the slideshow taken from Origa’s official site, The YK Project, and Google image search, edited with a bit of Photoshop.

Oh, by the way, someone has uploaded the real live video in YouTube: (more…)

Omna Magni Fan Video: If Only to Fly

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

One of the more popular fan videos made for a Gabby song is “If Only to Fly”, created by *SilverPoot, featuring Omna Magni from Aquarion. It features an animation of a fox that wishes to fly. The cute part is that the fox really looks like it’s singing the song. This animation was drawn frame by frame, just imagine the amount of work put into this video.

You can watch the full video of If Only to Fly feat. Omna Magni by clicking the image below:

A Gabriela Robin Site Now Searchable Through Google

Monday, April 16th, 2007

Hooray!

These days getting indexed in Google is sufficient news to celebrate, considering some sites take months to get this done. Google has finished indexing more than 90 pages of the site, which means that the static pages are now searchable using the search bar at the right side.

If everyone would now look at the sidebar, you will spot two search bars. The first one is for the static content, and the next one is for searching the blog. The blog search bar will be removed once the blog itself is indexed in Google.

Now what next? Take over the top site in the search results when you place “Gabriela Robin” in google.com, currently held by the older site.

Ragnarok Online 2 - new Gabriela songs? Part 2

Friday, April 13th, 2007

This is the second part of the Ragnarok Online 2 music samples that seem to involve Gabriela Robin with the vocals or lyrics. Sakaba sounds like one of the songs Kanno does for commercials. I would describe this batch as cuter and more raw than the previous set.

If any of these songs are completely in a language that you understand, please inform me through the comments. Thank you!

A Fan’s Profile: Goliath sings Ragnarok 2

Monday, April 9th, 2007

Austrian fan alert!

It would be hard pressed not to notice the global community that Gabriela’s fans reside in. Sometimes, her works might even inspire the creation of song covers, original music and art. This post would be the first in a series of posts that would showcase the community’s diversity and talent.

To begin, we have a singer-songwriter whose internet id is very misleading because she is a girl: Goliath! She narrates that her primary motivation for learning how to sing is a Yoko Kanno song, “Sora” to be particular. She adds,

So I love to sing gabby songs, because they are special and in fantasy languages! I started with classical singing lessons and Pop Vocal stuff… so I got a little bit of a technic also.

When I first heard a sample of her voice, I thought she had been singing as a hobby since she was a kid. Goliath has a nice timbre and a clear voice, I just assumed that some people are born singers ;)

Here’s a sample of her recording:

This is not officially a Gabriela lyric/song since the Ragnarok Online 2 OST is not yet in print, but I guess we could assume, since it’s not a real language. You could listen to the official recording in the Ragnarok Online 2 Official Site.
