Macross F CDs Reign in CDJapan, Amazon 2008 Top Anime CD Lists

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

More sales stuff :) I’m doubting the Amazon Japan one for not having Diamond Crevasse in sight. I’m pretty sure that it sold quite well, based on the Oricon charts. Didn’t Japan buy that single?

CDJapan Anime Top 10:
1. Macross Frontier: Nyan Fro
2. Macross Frontier: Nyan Tra
3. Macross Frontier: Triangler

6. Macross Frontier: Lion
7. Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea
8. Evangelion 1.0 You are (not) Alone OST
9. D.Gray-man Complete Best
10. Shakugan no Shana II: Blaze

Amazon Japan Anime Top 10:
1. Macross Frontier: Nyan Fro
2. Macross Frontier: Nyan Tra
3. Macross Frontier: Lion

8. The Idolm@ster Vacation for you!
9. The Idolm@ster Master Live 00 shiny smile (with DVD)
10. Slayers Megumix

Oricon:
Currently, OST1 and OST2 are in the top 100 yearly albums rankings (December 24, 2007 - December 1, 2008) of Oricon at #53 and #65 respectively. For CD singles, Lion is at #55, Diamond Crevasse at #64, Triangler at #73, and Seikan Hikou at #79. Not related to Macross F, but SMAP’s super.modern.artistic.performance CD in which Kanno is involved in is at #37.

It’s been a very good year :)

Macross F: Nyan Tama Debuts in Oricon Daily Rankings at #2

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Today, Nyan Tama, the vocal collection album of Macross Frontier, debuted at #2 in the Oricon daily rankings with 18,882 units sold on the first day of its release. Exile placed the #1 spot with a big lead with 185,875 units sold, so there’s not much hope for Nyan Tama getting at #1 in the weeklies, but this is still a notable success for the franchise. In comparison to the other Macross F CDs, Nyan Tama beats the sales of Nyan Fro (10,304 copies), but falls short of beating Nyan Tra (24,932 copies).

*applause* I wasn’t expecting this, since it’s just a compilation album, but whatevr ryt! XD Out of 7 debuts this day, Nyan Tama is second from the top. Another anime album made its way at rank #6, which is Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch R2 Episode 6.

Macross F Vocal Collection: Nyan Tama Review

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

So here we go! I’ll just put comments on the on songs that are new or have changes. The CD title is Nyan Tama, for Nyan Tamashii, translating to Nyan Spirit :)

DISC 1
1. Triangler / Maaya Sakamoto
2. What ’bout my star? @Formo / Megumi and May’n
3. Aimo / Megumi
4. Diamond Crevasse~Tenbou Kouen nite (trans: In the View Park) / Megumi and May’n – This is the acapella version of Diamond Crevasse sang by Ranka and Sheryl when they first met.
5.Welcome To My FanClub’s Night! / May’n – non-SOS version
6. Iteza Gogo Kyuji Don’t Be Late (trans: Sagittarius 9pm Don’t be Late) / May’n – non-SOS version, starts off with Sheryl’s “Atashi no Uta o Kike!”
7. What ’bout my star? / May’n – non- SOS version
8. Infinity #7 / May’n and Megumi – A version of Infinity sang by Sheryl with Ranka. This is still different from the one in the animation where in Sheryl was on stage and Ranka was singing as part of the audience. I like this a bit better than the original as we get better harmonies between the two singers.
9. Choujiku Hanten (trans: Superdimensional Restaurant) Nyan CM Song (Ranka Version) / Megumi – The Nyan Nyan Restaurant CM song sang by Ranka. I wonder if we will ever get the Minmeh version.
10. Seikan Hikou (trans: Interstellar Flight) / Megumi – This version starts off with Megumi’s “Minna, dakishimete, ginga no Hatemade!”
11. Watashi no Kare wa Pilot (trans: My Boyfriend is a Pilot) / Megumi - has part 1 and part 2 in one song.
12. Neko Nikki (trans: Cat Diary) / Megumi
13. Ninjin (trans: Carrot) Loves you yeah! / Megumi
14. Kyoudai Fune (trans: Brother Spaceship) / Tokugawa Ichirou – This is the enka being performed in the Formo mall.
15. SMS Shoutai no Uta ~ Ano Musume wa Alien (trans: SMS Platoon Song ~ That Girl is an Alien)/SMS Platoon
16. Aimo O.C. / Megumi
17. Aimo~Tori no Hito (trans: Aimo~The Bird Man) / Megumi
18. Ai Oboete Imasu ka / Megumi – The full version of the ending song of the Deculture version of episode 1. I was hoping they’d fix the transition between the first refrain and second verse, but looks like they left it that way.
19. Diamond Crevasse / May’n
20. Aimo ~ Koi no Uta (trans: Aimo ~ Song of Love) / Maaya – I have to admit this was a bit disappointing since it was muffled under the special effects. It worked very well for the aura needed within the animation, but as a stand-alone, not so much. This also has Gablish lyrics :D
21. Bonus Track: Infinity Karaoke
22. Bonus Track: Ninjin Loves You Yeah! Karaoke
