How did I miss this? I loved the Lizzard.net website and frequented the site when it first came out! Please pardon me if this is too late, but I feel a bit nostalgic listening to these lost pieces.

Notable pieces in this set are “Escaflowne Lives”, which reminds the listener of the tv series, only darker. “Exploding Horse” is also pretty mysterious, and then there’s “Telekinetic Brawl” which starts rather slowly and becomes powerful halfway. The ending arrangement of “Sora” is also present in this set, which is an echoing a cappella version of Sora which ends with an equally mysterious drums and piano accompaniment at the end which is to my dismay, abruptly terminated. “Time for a Battle” is another looming piece with light vocals at the start which develop to fantasy RPG-like battle music. (NOTE: The website admin gave names to the tracks for reference purposes, and are by no means official.)

More lost songs?!

Unfortunately, two accounts of viewers of the Aquarion OVA mentioned that there is not much new music created apart from the ending theme. The chances of obtaining a new album is pretty slim, except possibly for a CD single with the song Suashi in it.

The album was ripped by StandAlone and posted in YKDB. Most of the songs are instrumental variations of previously released songs, but some are not. Take this one for example:

Aquarion Lost Song:

I could remember that song from watching the animation, and I thought that if it is in the opening episode, it should be in the the OST. I guess not. I have a solemn wish that every vocal track Yoko Kanno writes be published officially, but they just don’t make the cut. (Wolf’s Rain anyone?) It is perhaps her disregard for songs that Gabriela sings, for whatever reason there is. Some of them sound like scraps, but scraps that with little polishing, could produce a gem.

Two of the most requested unreleased songs from the original Gabriela Robin website are the “Heaven’s Not Enough – Gabriela Robin version” and the one named “Cheza’s Song/Lunar Flower Lullaby”, both from the anime Wolf’s Rain. The scene where Heaven’s Not Enough with the voice allegedly owned by Gabriela was enchanting. I actually replayed that part again and again. Same goes with “Track 15″ in another episode.

So if you guys haven’t downloaded them before, then they’re here once more. The person who ripped the tracks are not credited in the download, but the person who showed it to me is djsilt from YKDB. If the person who ripped it sees this and would like to be credited, please notify me.

For starters, it has been confirmed via interviews at Anime Expo 2006 with Production IG animators that Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Solid State Society (phew) is not the last installation to the SAC universe. But it looks like it’s going to take a while for the next series to be released. We don’t even know if Kanno will still be composer for the next series, so let’s just dwell a bit on the unreleased songs .

The Earth Girl Arjuna OST 1 probably has the most Gabriela Robin material found on any Yoko Kanno album. But sadly, not all songs played in the animation was published. I guess there was a surplus of so many songs… The unofficial fan-ripped album created by roxfan of YKDB contains 47 background music tracks in total, and a couple of notable Gabriela-sounding songs in it.
