Gabriela Robin = Sukoshi?

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

It just popped into my head. There were fans who were thinking that the singer of Oban Star Racer’s ED Waratteta, “Sukoshi”, is not a real name (of course it couldn’t be, it means “A little” in English), and that it’s Gabriela Robin. It sounds exactly like her right, tone and pronunciation?

It just so happens that the Seatbelts compilation tracklists place “Gabriela Robin” as the performer to Waratteta… so… either this is a new version, or Gabby is using another pseudonym. Or should I say, **bleep** is using another pseudonym? :P

Another Case of Mistaken Identity: Magna Carta

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Wikipedia can be quite… a shock. In this screenshot, you’re looking at the current entry (September 21, 2008 00:11 hours Pacific time) for Yoko Kanno’s game works:

Okay, so I did do some research on this, and indeed, a certain artist named Gabriela Robin sang the English OP to this soundtrack, but it’s not our girl. Here is a video of the theme song, and well, how can anyone mistake this girl (who reminds me of Christina Aguilera) for our Gabby? Perhaps the fact that she’s worked for a Korean MMORPG? :P

Someone please edit that wiki entry :P

UPDATE: Transcription and translation by Rick added. (Thanks!!!)

Credits:

Music: Yoko Kanno
Lyrics: Gabriela Robin, Anju Mana
Transcription and translation: Rick
Transciption to Roman text: mai

for another day (あなたの声で)

believe in me (あなたのそばで)
I’m loving you

((Where are you?
Why the love?
Falling to change up to world.
Fairy, we realize that like you we like you so.))

((Where are you?
Why the love?
Falling to change up to world.
Fairy, we realize that like you we like you so.))

It’s Open Season! Ragnarok and CMYoko Lyrics Wanted!

BUMP 2!

Update: The lyrics page has been updated to include Poem by Virgilius Sade. Five more submissions and this list is finished :)

Time to get those ears listening and fingers typing, it’s the long waited open season for Ragnarok and CMYoko lyrics submissions!

The following list contains songs that are not credited to Robin, but are indirectly credited to her. One, the Ragnarok OST does not clearly define who sang what in the CD, not even Ilaria Graziano’s songs, so all gibberish songs, I assume are hers. I made an exception to “Everland” because I don’t know who wrote the lyrics to that one, but let’s just work on it anyway. For the CMYoko release, well, I’m assuming that Robin is singing because it’s credited to Samply Red and there’s only one female in that group. Guess who.

NOTE: To submit an entry, please check first if there is already someone who has sent an entry by checking the comments section. If available, please post a comment here with which one you are working on, then send your contribution via email to mike underscore s underscore 6 at yahoo dot com. As I update the site, I will strike out the ones that already have submissions.

As everyone would note, not every single song is here, because some of them already have submitted contents. (more…)

How do you like your Turkey?

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

If you have watched the Ghost in the Shell:SAC series, you would have known by now that the song “Torukia”, sometimes referred to by fans as “Turkey”, has stripped down versions played within the series. One of them is the strings only version played at the episode Sunset in the City – Annihilation from Season 1, 24th episode. The other one was very memorable for me, as it played in Second Gig, episode 14, entitled Beware the Left Eye – Poker Face at a very, very climactic scene. Don’t watch this if you don’t want any spoilers:

For your reference here are the three versions of Torukia: (more…)
