Megumi Nakajima Outside of Macross F

Not related to Kanno, but you guys should be interested in how she’d sound outside Macross F, wouldn’t you ;)

In my opinion, the first song is not to my liking, but it might become a single as it very catchy. The second song is a bit better, but for some reason it still reminds me of anime, Gundam in particular… It also sounds a tad like a happier Northern Cross.

    Hm, dunnow.
Same as the Origa and Maaya cases IMHO : wich means when Yoko isn’t writing, exceptionnal pop songs just become standards pop songs with nothing really catchy in it.
Even if you have a good voice, if there’s not a good composer beind, no magic will happen.

Is she trying to get out of the anime business? Or is it a song for a new series that she is doing? Cuz’ with a song like that I don’t think so…Maaya stepped away from Kanno for a while cuz’ she wanted to work with other people after doing Les Miserables. Plus, I think she didn’t want to be seen so much as an “anime” singer and with Kanno’s name on her songs it probably made some people steer away.

    They both sound rather generic…

@Fukurou - I have to agree, composing is also very important, a song will not reach its full potential with only a good voice. But I wouldn’t say that Yoko is the only composer who could bring out this potential, I also like Origa’s Towa and Tam, and Maaya’s Ame ga Furu among other songs. Though of course, Origa’s songs composed by Kanno are just more beautiful than her usual work. The rhythm on her GITS:SAC songs itself trump every song on Origa’s I’ve heard ever.

@Naru, 3Force - Maybe she will use her next release as a peg for a more mainstream release. Say, she’ll put these anime-ish songs to appeal to her anime fans, and throw in some non-anime sounding ones in the album. It might work…

    Thanks for this.
    I’m fans of Megumi Nakajima.

Bye! a hug to you Mai. ^^

Haha both songs remind me of anime songs, though I do like the second one better. I love Megumi, but yeah these are pretty bland when compared to her Macross F songs - the missing YK magic is too apparent after the awesomeness that was Macross F ;_; Well, I still wish Megumi all the best, I really do like her voice. I daresay I’d like listening to these if I haven’t heard of her Macross F songs before.

    Is it hoping for too much to want a YK&Megumi and YK&May’n team from now on? :D;;

It’s 2 of her 3 original songs released through iTunes Japan. Those songs names are “Be MYSELF” (I think it’s the first song), “Pine” and “Tenshi na Naritai”. “Be MYSELF” was composed by Yoshimasa Fujiwara, “Pine” by Haruyuki and “Tenshi ni Naritai” by Kyosuke Shiganaga.

I think her voice is more like an idol than singer, but she’s better than a lot of idols. In the second song, she sounds really like Shoko Nakagawa in “Tsuzuku Sekai”.

We could start a whole new shipper war here. Should Kanno chose May’n or Megumi? 菅野さんは誰と作曲をする 私それともあの子?:) (yes its a dumb joke, just refrain from sending me hate mail)

My opinion of the songs are about the same, not bad but can’t really compare with Mac F. Megumi doesn’t really have May’n’s gutsyness or Maaya’s beauty too, vocally it sounds like being stuck in no mans land.

  9. mai Says:

I choose May’n!!! And they’d make more ballads and they’d live happily ever after :P

  10. Naddie Says:

    I can’t choose, I want them both D:

  11. fugue Says:

@Kai - lol, took me a loooong time (with my limited jap skills) to get that joke ;) it’s another triangle!

mmm.. i’m sorry, megumi… but i’m with May’n. these 2 songs are just “meh”.

  12. Xy Says:

…. I want to choose Megumi ,but we all know that May’n’s voice is… something…well I can’t place it… dunno, easily recognised? requires worship?:D

if they form a singing trio, then WE’LL all live happily ever after…

    I like the second song…>.<

  13. Kai Says:

@fugue, sorry I sould have done it in romaji.

I vote neither. Kanno is too promiscuous to stay with one singer for too long.

  14. mai Says:

*ahahaha* right, I think she’s dating 4 right now!!! :D

    Hi Guy

Her first concert will be on 24 Dec, I think it is called Nakajima Love Christmast.

Wish all the best for her
