Yoko Kanno at 2-Channel’s Top Anime Songs Countdown

The Japanese Forum 2-Channel, rumored to be the largest in the world based on the number of posts made in it per day, has published their top 101 anime songs based on the online votes of their users. Yoko Kanno’s songs fared well in the charts, with 10 songs in the list, ranked as follows:

96. rise, Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. 2nd Gig OP
87. Tank!, Cowboy Bebop OP
81. Yakusoku wa Iranai, Escaflowne OP
72. Kiseki no Umi, Record of Lodoss War TV OP
54. inner universe, Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. OP
47. Hemisphere, RahXephon OP
31. Tsuki no Mayu, Turn A Gundam ED2
12. tune the rainbow, RahXephon Movie ED
7. Platinum, Card Captor Sakura OP3
1. Sousei no Aquarion, Sousei no Aquarion OP1

Number 1 isn’t the top seat as there is a “winner”, which is occupied by Evangelion’s Zankoku no Tenshi no Teeze. View this Animenation page for a full list of all the songs in the countdown.

    By the way, if you guys visit the forum, it has a really lousy layout. Talk about a non-fluidly tiled background and frames!

    Yoko’s songs might be in the 90-something rankings, but their number one to me :P But then again, Eva is an animation classic with brawn and brains, but what about the old Robotech/Macross?

    Well I do expect this ranking to change after 5 years, but I think the Eva song has enough lead from the others and is really the viewers’ choice winner :)

    I thought they would’ve put the song ‘Kiri’ by Monoral (the OP for Ergo Proxy). I’ve done another transcribe in my site in case you’re interested, even if the vocals are not by Robin :)
