Recommendation Series:
Imogen Heap - Hide & Seek
Occassionally, one would stumble upon an artist who is reminiscent of Gabriela Robin be it the impish voice, the chant-like vocal harmony, or the otherworldly lyrics. This would be the first in a series of artist recommendations that would help the fans expand their horizons on other artists. While the world awaits the release of new material from our girl, why not dive into other artists with similar styles?
The obvious artist recommendation for Ghost in the Shell: SAC would have to be Björk as Yoko Kanno imitates the very distinct arrangements and sweet electronic vocal style to the point that the song would fit Björk’s albums. But since Ilaria Graziano performs those Björk-styled songs, let us just focus on an artist who made a song that reminds more of the Gabriela songs in Ghost in the Shell: SAC. Her name is Imogen Heap, an English musician and vocalist who dons experimental electronica samples with rich electronic vocal harmony. Doesn’t that fit the bill?

This is the video of the song entitled “Hide & Seek” which has been featured in popular shows such as CSI: Miami ang The O.C. So far, I have only listened to one Imogen Heap album which is “Speak for Yourself” and this song really grabbed my attention and thought that I should share it with this community.
I am planning to also feature Deerhoof and Joanna Newsom in future posts. If you have other recommendations, please feel free to post them here via comments. Thank you!
