Who Sang What in the Ragnarok 2 Concert?

Once the concert set list was announced, there were questions as to who would provide the vocals to this and that song. The only 3 guests announced were Maaya Sakamoto, Mai Yamane, and Origa, but there were songs such as Call Me Call Me from Cowboy Bebop that was originally sang by Steve Conte, who is not in the guest vocalist list.

Here’s a rundown of the vocal songs and their performers

  • Torukia (Turkey) - Mai, Maaya, Origa (originally by Gabriela Robin, Ilaria Graziano, and the Warsaw Chorus)
  • Inner Universe - Origa
  • Rise - Origa
  • Don’t Bother None - Mai
  • Call Me Call Me - Mai (originally by Steve Conte)
  • Player - Origa
  • Kuuki to Hoshi and Hikari no Naka E - Maaya
  • The Real Folk Blues - Mai
  • ELM - Mai, Origa (originally by Pierre Bensusan)
  • Intro Theme- Yoon Hyeon Soo (originally by ???)
  • Yoru_Vo - Origa (originally by Ilaria Graziano)
  • Blue - Mai
  • Yubiwa - Maaya, Mai, Origa (Originally by Maaya Sakamoto only)
  • Yakusoku wa Iranai - Maaya, Mai, Origa (Originally by Maaya Sakamoto only)
  • Hodo - Maaya, Mai, Origa (originally by ???)

I’m anxious to hear how it turned out, especially all the parts where Origa sings. I thought for a while that Maaya would sing Yoru_Vo, but Origa performed it and now I’m doubly excited to hear it. She just adds a certain mystic feel to anything she sings.

I wonder how Mai Yamane fared with singing the Gabriela songs. She has a full, low pitched voice and I couldn’t imagine how that would mix in with Maaya and Origa who are both sopranos. I hope the harmony went well… Or did she just sing in Torukia at the part where the Warsaw Chorus, noted for their low baritone voice, enters into the song? Hmmm…

That’s the 10 year old Korean boy who sang the intro of Ragnarok2- Yoon Hyeon Soo. Heard he’s studying violin in America but visited Korea to take the audition just for this concert.

Kanno Yoko’s comment on this boy : “He’s got an angel’s voice; and also he’s so cute that I’m afraid he’ll one day become an adult too”

    @Goliath - I didn’t listen to any Maaya albums in full, that’s why :P I’ll edit the post :)

@atma - only the Intro Theme? Was he also the original singer in the album? (very funny comment of Kanno too, she seems to have a spot for male sopranos, some of them must be too old now to sing the way she wants them to)

Thanks for the information, everyone :)

I felt most sad when I heard the Yakusoku wa Iranai that Gravity shared… it wasn’t the clearest recording, but it brought back so many memories… :(
