Thanks for that, I was rushing :p
Honestly I haven’t had luck listening to it… The connection keeps dropping…

And there I’ve listened to it. It’s quite nice, looking forward to the full version now.

It does sound quite good!

I’m holding off judgment before I hear the full version because the rhythm section is much too plain in the sample … especially since Rasmus Faber’s background is jazz… Nakajima sounds really nice though, and the simple harmony is endearing.

Faber does have his jazz background for sure but he’s also (in fact better known) as House music artist and DJ – and traditionally speaking House’s been characterized by repetitive 4/4 beats and rhytms centering around drum machines…
anyway, a longer sample (as long as we get before release I think) just became unexpectedly avalaible on Megumi’s youtube channel:

I really like it all in all! I found the straightforward harmony with its small changes along the way really endearing on repeated listens (after getting over the “wait what this isn’t piano based ballad or anything wut” surprise) and something about its drive reminded me of the girly Sakamoto songs like Bokura no Rekishi (lacks awesome bassline though) or that Kyoko Koizumi song. ^__^
but I think I might actually like the verses more!
In any case: sounds good so far IMO, can’t wait to find out how this is going to evolve during its 8 minutes run
I don’t really follow Megumi’s shinkaron actively because I find her much cuter when she doesn’t speak in that forced-cute-so-common-in-the-business featured prominently on it but I’m happy this time I did.

Thanks for the link

With this sample I can say I really like. The melody is simple but charming. Plus, I appreciate Megumi is using her lower register this time.

I’ve finally listened to it. It’s heavy on the strings, which means instant like for me, haha. Overall pretty cute and pleasant to listen to. It reminds me of Maaya’s earlier songs.

Kinda like I Am a Dreamer… with a synth rhythm section on loop :p

ahh so it finally became avalaible through usual routes (and I just today got my copy anyway, got it for live dvd which probably never will be ripped
)… haven’t yet listened to it but it looks like my impressions pointed to right direction aka Kanno’s Maaya-mode ^__^
I guess “I Am a Dreamer” = Platinum?

@Xard – that made me think of something and it cracked me up. Platinum, Gold…

haha! Well, while platinum is indeed more valuable than gold in terms of metals I think I prefer this Gold over that Platinum
Anyway, really nice song all in all. Bright, sunny track with running energy and I love the way the notes gradually rise higher and higher in the choruses with that simple but memorable melody. Megumi herself sounds lovely and really cute on here. It’s closest relatives from composition to its general style are Maaya tracks of old days IMO, in particular Hahiru and its ilk.
Arrangement is also overall pretty qood (I particularly like the sound of guitar parts and the final part with its false end and all is pretty nice) and lol excluding Megumi herself this track is all swedish in terms of personnel.
Still I think I would’ve preferred Kanno herself arranging and producing this track. The looping synth rhytm section does its job but I think I would’ve preferred the song with kind of sparse drum sound and a bit heavier production a la Maaya’s Bike. Faber’s style suited better his own song.
Really pleasant, cute song nonetheless and very good in my books. Sunny pop and in that respect a lot like rest of the album
Unfortunately it didn’t fulfill my hopes of hearing Megumi sing Kanno song outside “Ranka voice” because…. well really, voice’s highness and soft tone lands the track (and most of the album) exactly there anyway, despite “Ranka Lee =” moniker not being present here. Oh well
Guess I should finally check out the live tracks on DVD
Maybe some other time… at least so I hope
ps. looks like Megumi and Rasmus get along really well because Megumi has a booked appereance in Faber’s next summer jazz live concerts (and he made appereance in Megumi’s Kobe live few days ago apparently) in Japan. Well well, maybe a jazz Seikan Hikou with vocals will be happening eventually ^__^
There’s a jazz arrangement with space for vocals for it already anyway http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jau28pDHxm8
Heh
I guess this finishes my posting spree today
