Lion CD Single Debuts in Oricon Weeklies at #3
First of all, a recap of the 3 Macross F singles’ first week sales:
Don’t be Late: 42,714
Seikan Hikou: 34,501
Triangler: 31,270

Now Lion beats the three with 56,455 units sold on its first week! The first day sales of this single even beat the first day sales of OST 1 (but didn’t outsell it in the weeklies). This is the fourth Macross F CD to land at the top 3 in the weekly spot. If we are to count in the Seikan Hikou single, it is the fifth Macross F CD to make it within the top 5 of the Oricon weekly charts on its debut.
I personally was wishing that it would get #2, but then Pornograffitti beat it for selling 57,667 copies, about 1200 more than Lion.
As of now we know that there’s another Macross F CD to be released in the future, hope it gets to the weekly top 3 again!

Oricon doesn’t take export sales into account, right? Or does it just come down to the retailer? I want to be counted!!!

Yep, it doesn’t take export sales into account, so if you’re going to count the “real” sales, you multiply the number by 1.75 or 1.8. Not a bad thing if you ask me, I suppose the Macross staff knows how many they really sold, regardless of how Oricon or Soundscan gathers their data.
