I can’t guarantee to upload the entries this weekend though, and I suppose most people will be recording over the weekend (hey Pippa, you said in YKDB you’d do this right, don’t back out now

@Katsuki – I tried Northern Cross, wow that was so hard, I gave up after the first try XD
@all – this is recorded in my laptop’s mic, I did it last weekend. Let’s just say, no matter what I do, the noise is there, and I guess it’s okay since I’m afraid of what it sounds like in HQ XD

@Fugue: No kidding! I guess native Japanese speakers or Japanese speakers in particular would probably have the advantage of understanding & being able to memorize the lyrics much faster than we would xD;; I can memorize Japanese lyrics, but I wouldn’t know what the heck I’m memorizing, so none of the lyrics-recalling techniques I’ve used for English or Malay songs work for me with Japanese songs BD;;

Thanks you all guys for the complements, but I have no doubt that the other guys sounds much better then I.
Anyway, it was fun to record this. My nihongo resumes in arigato and sayonara, so … And my sister was making fun of me all the time =P
And all the girls sound amazing! I think all of you can work with this animé singing stuff. Gabriela and yoko should pay more attention here.
And I’d probably would fit in a tv show like that… “caffein, spain…” stuff

Thanks Fugue! I agree that everyone who submitted really did a good job ^_^ I love the fact that the songs can be sung by guys and girls!! Also, if anyone is interested in hearing how an ‘orchestral’ northern cross might turn out try seperating Northern cross into vocal tracks, invert one and then listen to the bridge and chourus – there’s a really cool orchestral sound that builds through it
(found that on my way to figuring out backing vocals)

Haha, I did the vocal-ripping with Northern Cross too, to figure out the harmonies. Agreed, the effect is great. Even when we ripped the vocals Kanno’s tracks sound good <3

@fugue: unfortunately trying to rip the vocals to get the harmony didn’t work out for me this time, so I had to try and sing it myself (hence why the chourus is missing somebackup in places) but the orchestra part is nice, I’ll try putting it up for people to hear

@Koori: you have a great tone on Northern Cross, your pitch is like, perfect – you sound great XD but listening again I think it’s because the instrumental is louder than your vocals sound a little muffled under the karaoke track?.. but impressive vocals

@Pippa and Goliath: Goliath sounds awesome as usual, even more admirable considering she had a cold and still found the energy to sing and mix this for us (sing amazingly too!) >_< I love you!! I think I need to fix my mic a little bit, it seems loud at some points and then too quiet at others. I like this version of Lion, we actually recorded a version with me as Ranka and Goli as Sheryl so maybe someday we’ll show everyone that one too ^_~ good job goli!!

@koori: it’s no problem, the only reason I mentioned it was because it means it’s harder to hear your beautiful voice
mixing can be tricky!! But, as I said, your performance more than makes up for it (by being awesome!!)

Just a question: is a kinda low quality recording, with the original song and not the karaoke version, with a little messing up with the lyrics, still allowed? I wanted to enter, but I’ve only recorded once and now I’m sick, so I can’t record a decent version =______=
