    Gaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Why do I have to live in cold arctic north and miss all the good stuff

Good for those who were there! Sounds great! :)

  2. Vlado Says:

It was simply a magical experience, that’s the best sum of the events possible. Thanks a million to sister-m, who posted a more detailed, almost poetic report about the experience. We were also among the lucky ones who got to the venue really early and got a chance to witness the rehearsals. Yoko was indeed so nice, forthcoming, funny and simply beautiful. They ran through just a couple of songs but I thought Illaria sang even better on the rehearsal than on the actual event (if that’s possible). The concert itself was breathtaking, the overall atmosphere over the venue was so intimate, spontaneous, friendly and truly in the essense of Yoko and her music stands for. The songs played were:
    Power of the Light
    Velveteen
    Monochrome
a piano piece unknown to me
    To Tell the Truth
    I Do
    Aoi Hitomi
another new (?) piano piece, (a bit reminiscent of Rakuen)
Kimi de Ite Buji de Ite
    Czech National Anthem
    Piano Bar

She did a little chatting with the audience between the songs. After the performance was over (oh. so soon), we had a chance to talk to her a little bit, she autographed my beloved Ghost in the Shell Boxset and took pictures with us and lots of other wans. It’s so wonderful to see there’s a lot of people not too far away who love her music just like I/we do. There were even fans from Japan who traveled specially for the event!

I took some pictures, I will post them somewhere and share a link. I made an audio recording of the whole concert, it’s quite listenable. I’ll post the 48KHz/24bit FLAC files as soon as I can for everyone to enjoy, share and spread and if anyone wants to do some additional audio processing work, feel free.

So stay tuned – I will post what I have during this weekend. I’m really quite busy these days, that’s why everything takes such a lot of time. Sorry about that, everyone. Be patient, it’ll be worth it.

  3. Vlado Says:

Sorry everyone, in the excitement I almost forgot about the fabulous YK repertoire. The first “unknown” piano piece is Nomad Soul and the other is Joy.

  4. crispain Says:

    I’m so excited! I can’t wait to somebody upload a recording…

    please! XD

  5. Vlado Says:

Ok everyone, here is a recording of the entire event. I recorded it in 48KHz and 24bit. I think the audience noise may be a little high between songs, simply because we were really insance and people around me (including me) shouted like crazy. I repeat, if anyone wants to clean the recording (I left it untouched), share it further, re-post it or do anything with it – feel free to do so (a little credit won’t hurt, though..:)). I put it up in FLAC, in full lossless quality for those interested and also in standard mp3 for your iPods and music collections. Enjoy, share your comments and spread the word. Some photos later.

And there was also press conference with Yoko and Shinichiro Watanabe (for about 1 hour) they talked about how they met and their cooperation on Macross Plus and Cowboy Bebop I also take a courage to ask two question myself I asked if there will be more concerts with Ilaria Graziano… she doesn’t answer very clear so maybe yes maybe no :) and what are her favorite bands and if she take inspration from them (yes I know about that plagiarism issue) She doesn’t name any concrete artist only some french which she listen when she was small, and that she doesn’t watch TV so her inspiration come from sounds around her like birds or phones ringtones :) she said that she can remember it quite fast (and prove it in the concert :) so maybe thats the reason why some of her songs sounds quite familiar :) .

  8. mai Says:

Ah! Another recording, I haven’t listened to Vlado’s completely yet! Thanks!!!

  9. mai Says:

Her English is really good, consider me surprised! And her tone is lower than when she usually speaks in Japanese. I speak two languages and I also use a lower tone for English, I dunno why!

  10. crispain Says:

This is great!!!! Thank you Laughing Man!

  11. kuroe Says:

Hi guys – thank you so much for posting your recordings! I wonder if anyone can upload the same to something like hotfile or filesonic? megaupload is unfortunately blocking my area :(

  12. crispain Says:

    THANK YOU AGAIN!!!

I’ve been waiting eight years to watch this!!

  13. Soulshift Says:

@Vlado: Thanks so much for making the recordings, the renditions of I Do and kimi de ite were really special and I think this is the first time I’ve heard Yoko speak in English!

@Mai: Thanks as always for these awesome updates :D

  14. Yyrkoon Says:

Thanks a lot for the video!

  15. LaughingMan Says:

Here is “best of” on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39hfPNzMza0

And I forgot to mention one more maybe interesting thing, on a press conference Watanabe said the he talked with Keanu Reeves about movie version of Cowboy Bebop and it’s up to studio Fox if Yoko Kanno would do the OST. And before projection of Cowboy Bebop when Watanabe introduce the movie Kanno beg him for a new TV series :) and he wasn’t completly against it.

  16. Ryan Says:

The FB photo link doesn’t want to work when I click on the pic. Wanted to see Ilaria’s FB and say ‘hi’ to her.

It’s a public album, so everyone can access and share it..:)
The pics are nothing special, but it was the best I could do.

  19. Tomas Says:

hey everyone! I was also one of those who were lucky enough to get to the show (thx to good people spreading the word). the perfomance was moving and many times I found myself (almost :P ) crying from joy….

for me the best part of the whole “thing” was yoko herself, her personality and the good energy she’s spreading….she was so cute (before the reherseal) when dancing on the stage imitating sounds of a bird ! :)

    ありがとうございました 菅野 よう子!

  20. mai Says:

Here’s Ilaria’s personal page in Facebook for those who want to greet her. Just add her as a friend first though…

  21. mai Says:

Kanno: Is there anyone here from another country? Oh so many! Where?
    Someone: Slovakia!

    :)

  22. Vlado Says:

I think it was Tomas, who posted above, who said that… So what? :-D It IS technically a different country. I’m from there too…:):)

  23. Dia Says:

It’s wonderful memor I will hold onto. :3 Hope the german fellows will add st too – they had great photo camera^^

  24. mai Says:

Actually, there was a guy on stage with a camera isn’t it? I wonder if they officially recorded something.

  25. crispain Says:

I wonder if who have done the mixing could record the show…

  26. caruso Says:

Thank u, LaughingMan & Vlado. Do you mind if I repost the links elsewhere?

  27. Dia Says:

Yep, it was public television. They used it for “Scales of Anifest” If anyone finds a way to download it, let me know please! I could edit it afterwards and add subtitles for non-chzech people.
