Ragnarok Online 2: Legend of the Second
Kanno will still be the composer to RO2′s next release tag-lined “Legend of the Second”. It is not clear though whether it would be new music, or it would use the ones in the previous RO2 OST.
The closed Beta Testing will start on August 31.

I really loved wolf’s rain OST with yoko kanno in it, was so touching and inspiring, hope she keeps doing that kind of music on this new version of RO2 which is going to be awesome imho.

Well the one she made for the first RO2 was not as touching, but it was well-written and had some really inspiring tunes alongside cute ones which really fit the game. If you notice though, the characters in their website are no longer cutesy, so I’m hoping they’d make new music to fit it. According to YKMS, it’s 90 songs/bgms, so I hope it’s new because it would account for her recent glaring absence even in making CMs!

Uhmm i was talking about Wolf’s Rain anime OST in which yoko kanno created also the music of it ^^¡, anyways i liked the one she made on the first RO2 but i expect much more content from this new one.

Oh, never mind, totally misinterpreted it.
But then again, I noticed that they said that all 90 songs in the second RO2 is by Kanno, so now I think that they’re not new, because she made the same amount for the first RO2.

Yah they said that they would keep all of the maps of the older RO2 too plus maybe some improvements, anyways its sure that they will add more content in the progress, still. Im glad to see how much effort they got on this project so far. ^^

I’m pretty sure the music is going to be the same; they changed the name of the game because they had to rework the entire engine from ground-up and pretty much scrapped the previous game system, but the art style and the universe are still the same. About new music, back in 2006/7 they stated that YK would still compose music for new maps/ expansions as they are released, so it’s not entirely impossible she’ll do some new tracks.

Looks like they are really going for broke this time. Style is more reminiscent of the first game, wouldn’t be surprised to see even more new music. I’m getting pretty excited.

Well it’s blocked in my country, probably because RO was big in the Philippines and they get flooded or hacked (eek) or something else. Oh well :\

the intro track is an epic war piece which i dont think i heard from the previous release.
the track played on the main page is an old song.
conclusion: probably no new stuff since RO2 was pulled back and not really released.
