Macross F Movie Itsuwari no Utahime Music-related News
UPDATE: Performance costume sketches added below. LOL Ranka, very cute XD I love the Obelisk costume on Sheryl.
Just gathering all the movie music news here, plus some others. So I guess Ranka had her share of songs, but these sound mostly funny, so they’re probably a bunch of CM songs. Not all of the songs in Universal Bunny are used. Also, I guess I’m wrong about the Valk costume being used for the Family Mart CM song, because there is another song for the Dynam brand.
=================================
From COMA:
New songs in the movie:
Sheryl: Universal Bunny, Pink Monsoon, Obelisk
Ranka: Starlight Nattou (Starlight Fermented Soybeans), Kaitaku Juuki (Reclamation Heavy Machinery), Dynam Chougoukin (Dynam Toy Brand), Daruma Seminar (Daruma Doll Seminar), Family Mart Cosmos, Sou Da Yo (It is so).
Other info:
The next movie is entitled “Macross F Movie: The Wings of Goodbye”, it is the concluding part.
Maaya appears in this movie as Ranshe.
=================================
Kresphy from Macross World, source probably from other boards/2ch.
New Song Credits (other names omitted when obvious):
Sou da yo.
Lyrics: Maaya Sakamoto, Gabriela Robin
Starlight Nattou
Kaitaku Juuki
Daruma Seminar
Family Mart Cosmos
Lyrics: Hiroshi Ichikura
Dynam Chougoukin
Lyrics: Eiji Kurokawa (note: This is Kawamori’s pseudonym)

Yaaay Maaya *_* and lol at the title, episode 25: you’re both my wings!!
November 21st, 2009 at 5:43 pm
Now Pippa, I just remembered that Japanese doesn’t have the level of plurals as in English. It could be “The Wing of Goodbye” right? Ship ship ship? (Don’t start guys.)

They only used three of the new songs? Well, probably they are saving the rest for the next movie.

Kaitaku Juuki (Reclamation Heavy Machinery)
this might not be CM… *shrug*
now the important question… HOW WAS SOU DA YO IN COMPARISON TO THAT RECENT LEAK? ;____;
@Cadentia
I suspect second film will have entirely new set of songs.

I don’t see how Sou Da Yo is important (personally), seeing that it’s the end credits song. It’s the one that’s supposed to be toned down while people are preparing to leave, and in movies, ED’s are usually played over a black screen with texts on it. I’d rather know how the CM’s of Ranka were executed, and how Universal Bunny was animated.
(edit: nevermind, I’m suddenly in a bad mood today)

Also, this might be bad news to some, but I heard that the BGM is mostly just like that of the TV series. Anyway, there are still unreleased stuff, so those *might* be released in the future.

“I don’t see how Sou Da Yo is important (personally), seeing that it’s the end credits song.”
I just want to know if I’ll like the song or not… *shrug* so I’m not interested in its relevance to movie per se. Just what kind of “arrangement” they ended up with
“I’d rather know how the CM’s of Ranka were executed, and how Universal Bunny was animated.”
Yeah
I suspect all those robotic etc. concert things we saw were for Universal Bunny… or at least some of them were (also, didn’t we see the Sheryl’s “bunny dance” part for a while? I guess one could deduce some of track’s visual style from the clip)
I’m more interested in seeing how Pink Monsoon was animated since it is Sheryl’s “sexy song”
“Also, this might be bad news to some, but I heard that the BGM is mostly just like that of the TV series. Anyway, there are still unreleased stuff, so those *might* be released in the future.”
well that’s too bad. Oh well…

That is bad news to me, I was looking forward to more BGM. Although you’re right, there are lot of masterpieces in the series that didn’t make it to the OSTs like Alto’s mother’s theme ( the one that plays when someone is talking about Alto’s mother) or the one that plays when Sheryl first kisses Alto and Ranka witnesses it that remind me so much of the Scheherazades. Or Brera’s aimo, or Ranka’s theme. Or the Iteza remix for Sheryl. And the list goes on.

Fans of Pink Monsoon who are expecting it to be a dance scene, well… I heard it’s played in the date scene, so no concert sexy dancing. Universal Bunny should deliver, or else! *angry face*

“Or Brera’s aimo, or Ranka’s theme. ”
I thought inu mimi Ranka is Ranka’s theme? (as for Aimo I’d like to have a capella version of it. Maybe film delivers…but I doubt it)
“Or the Iteza remix for Sheryl.”
hmm? Ep 24 version was remixed ooor…?
“Fans of Pink Monsoon who are expecting it to be a dance scene, well… I heard it’s played in the date scene, so no concert sexy dancing.”
nnnooooooo D’= lack of smexy sheryl is heartbreaking ;__;
“Universal Bunny should deliver, or else! *angry face*”
Yes! *shakes fist*
has there been any reviews/writings in english speaking internets? My japanese is very rudimentary…

I wanna fly to Japan just to see this movie.
November 22nd, 2009 at 12:01 am
@ Cadentia: I thought the BGM that played on the first scene where Alto and Sheryl kiss was the intro of Prologue F. @_@ I might be mixing the scenes up though…
November 22nd, 2009 at 1:04 am
@stormy panda: Prologue F plays when Sheryl kisses Alto in episode 24. I was talking about episode 10 there.

Just some speculative notes: 開拓 can also mean ‘frontier’. I’m not entirely sure how the song is utilized in the movie. And as for 重機, even though in this case “heavy” would be lost in translation, “Frontier Machine/Machinery” would probably be acceptable. だるまゼミナール should just be “Daruma Doll Seminar”. No one calls them “tumbling dolls” anymore (that I’ve seen). And, while I can’t find the lyrics to そうだよ again, “That’s Right” would be a better translation that “it is so”. No one says that in English anyways
November 22nd, 2009 at 7:02 am
I have a strong hunch I’m right about the heavy machinery one… let me share in another post… XD Also, the “It is so”, I actually use that phrase in writing, and I thought something like “That’s right” sounds too assertive for a song like that. For the Daruma, I have to admit, I only used a dictionary for that, I didn’t know that those are what you call those tomato-looking things! LOL
November 22nd, 2009 at 7:58 am
If you say something like “It is so…” as in “It so hard to remember proper stroke order for kanji” then yes. But if there is a conversation taking place and someone says “sou da you” in response to something you say, you wouldn’t translate it as “It is so.” when it means “That’s right.”
Now that I’ve found the song, I’ll elaborate:
そうだよ 君の言葉は
いつだって宝物
That’s right, your words are always treasured.
She’s singing about how no matter what (as in the person she’s singing about) the words are something I’ll always keep with me… so saying “That’s right, you words are always with me” is not assertive at all… lol
そうだよ as “It is so” = machine translation… LOL. Assertive would be something like “hell yeah” or “damn straight”.
November 22nd, 2009 at 8:10 am
I might have had a bias about translating it as “That’s right” because someone else from Macross World said that for a song that mellow, that phrase/title is assertive (he’s talking about both the Japanese title and his own take on the translation, which is “That’s right”). That was when he watched Megumi sing live in one of the concerts. I wasn’t thinking that it was “It so hard to remember proper stroke order for kanji”, more like in a conversation like this:
“…Is that so?”
“Yes, it is so/it is such.”
It has a more emphatic feeling to it.
November 22nd, 2009 at 9:45 am
I’m really not gonna bother much anymore… You have to remember that translating literally from Japanese into English simply does not work. In the example that you gave above, the “sou da yo” would just be “it is.”. No “so”. And, it doesn’t help that you’re referencing the Macross World forums anyways… lord knows I’ve had debates with people over there about translation and how ‘literal iz teh wai 2 go yo’. Saying “that’s right” does not detract at all from the “mellowness” of the song by any means. The emotion is in the singing anyways, and reading a translation while the artist is singing just makes you put more emphasis on certain parts, that’s all.

thanks for the info…
but I reaaalllly wanna know where i can get bigger versions of the outfit pictures. It’ll help a lot for potential cosplay! :O
November 22nd, 2009 at 7:27 pm
If it’s anything like the TV series we’ll probably get the bulk of Ranka’s new stuff on the next movie. Love her costumes, they’re even more outrageous than her carrot attire.

November 26th, 2009 at 6:07 am
Why are Ranka’s new outfits in the movie so…unique? Half of them look like mascot joke characters (probably because they come from CMs…). Here’s hoping that Ranka will get a better, grander outfit in the movie, or in the ones to follow.
November 26th, 2009 at 6:28 am
@Atashi
that’s because they all ARE mascot outfits!
poor girl, as if Ninjiin wasn’t humiliating and torturous experience already. Damn that Kawamori… or not, because I’ve been deriving lots of laughs from these pics. I can barely wait for seeing these in film
