Pink Monsoon Debuts in Oricon Weeklies at #5

As expected since Macross F isn’t airing currently, the single didn’t hold up to its opening day at #3. But nevertheless, this is a very strong performance for a character single of a series that ended about a year ago, and whose show it will be used in will only air a month after.
At the sales figure of 23563, this would have to be the worst performing single of the series, disregarding the Bobby singles. But then, this is understandable, as compared to other anime singles out there this week, especially one I know from another popular mecha show just plainly flopped *snickers*.

I never thought I’d see the day when getting number #5 on Oricon Weeklies would be considered “so-so”. We’ve really come a long way.

^Ranka fan much? LOL
Prevailing business conditions are always important in sales. For a single to be released without a headlining concert, without a tv series that’s currently promoting it, without any decent PV’s, most of all, coming from an anime, and still make that amount of sales, is in itself a success. Just imagine, in this situation, the CD is pitted against other mainstream artists who are profusely promoting their singles, and it still came out #5 – it’s almost like winning sitting down.
