It very much looks as if no more Macross anime will be officially released outside of Japan until the Tatsunoko/Big West dispute is settled once and for all and the issue of who owns those international distribution rights is settled. God only knows when that will be.

@Pippa – I thought it actually looked a bit… like fan art XD I thought Ranka’s dress was turning Vajra, but then it looks like that’s a flower on Sheryl’s head XD
When I first saw it, airbrush quality aside, I felt like it could have been me who directed this CD cover… Sheryl is big, Alto is present, and there’s a Valk. Oh wait, if I directed this, I would have placed… just the Valk. But no, since the CD title is now most likely Nyan Triangler, then the three of them should be there…
The only thing missing is a Macross logo in the middle and I’d be happy.

@fugue – have you joined the Guess the 3rd CD Title Game? As much as I’d like to do the design the OST 2/3 cover, I thought it’d be a bit tedious… for me XD
If the 3rd CD has Grace’s hopes and dreams in the cover and she’s singing Sharon songs, I’d probably die of heart attack on the spot XD

@mai: right now I only have… 2 Kanno CDs xD I doubt anyone’s collection is smaller than mine right now! It’s just that it’s so hard to find her albums
– the old store that used to carry anime OSTs was gone, and now that I found a new one I’m kinda excited lol.
Unfortunately they only carry anime-related stuff, so no hopes of finding Song to Fly, 23ji no Ongaku etc there
Ah well, I take what I can get!

Sultry Sheryl is sultry, although there’s a bit of the Minmay feel to her look. I like the cover art, definitely left a better impression than the first OST.

then there’s also the booklet print quality, usually they’re less vibrant and a little blurry. but please don’t let me spoil your joy. i’m sure yours are legit

@Fugue: Haha, I’ve no idea how I can tell the quality of the booklet to be honest ^^; The Blue (Bebop) CD I had looks pretty legit, and the rest looks okay too (anime OSTs, anyway).
But yeah, I do wonder how they can sell the CDs at RM20 per CD o.O

Why the sad face when that and no Maaya Aimo all but confirms that a 3rd OST will be coming out in Dec/Jan? I mean ffs Plus had 3 OSTS and it was 4x 40 minutes OVA episodes and a movie (which had maybe.. 6 new tracks?).
OST III could be similar to M+ For Fans Only and be a best of with quite afew new tracks included as well.

I think it’s the other version, the one with strings, when Sheryl sings after a long silence period. I say that because the 50/50 version is officialy named like that, it was specified at the end of the episode. On the other hand, the strings version had the original name, so I’m maybe wrong. We’ll see

Shinkuu no Diamond Crevasse – one in that episode that Sheryl sings in the shelter, the one where she names herself “Songstress of Despair”

@blazin – Well I was thinking twice about it, but the Japanese text does say “Pai”, and I’m not sure if it was truncated by the website because the title was too long, or they thought shortening it would be cute (?), or it could be a pun since it the title of the song is for Nyan Nyan, which is a food chain…

Right now I don’t really mind if Alto is dead, so long as Sheryl survives and Ranka stops singing Aimo.
And an acceptable translation of パイ is ‘tart’. Maybe Alto likes to wear drag and the girls are unimpressed or jealous that he looks better in womens clothing than they do. Sorry, dumb joke, nevermind.

I’ve been thinking on what the bgm tracks without samples are… Prologue F and Test Flight Delight I have no idea… same with Protoculture and Shadow Of Michael.
Now Dog-ears Ranka, Reminiscence Trumpet & is this LOVE? I think I have a fairly good idea…
Dog-ears Ranka being the track used for the Alto and Ranka scenes in ep 13 and 15 at the hospital.
Reminiscence Trumpet being the bgm played when Alto hooked Sheryl’s earring to his cockpit in 6 and the movie director in 10 stated Ranka’s legend has begun.
Is this LOVE? being the Alto and Sheryl bgm theme used in episode 6, 20 and 24.
Also this ost is missing Don’t Be Late Remix from 6 and 14

Ranka was the one singing that song and Alto chooses her over Sheryl, then he’s really a pie. I would have thrown one onto his face

The thing is they used that twice for the prologues in eps… 3 and 4 i believe and than it got switched to an Alto and Sheryl bgm used in eps 6, 20 and 24. So yeah… well we shall find out in hopefully 10-15 days if we get an early leak!

Looking at the last episode credits, Maaya Sakamoto’s aimo looks to be mixed into the Nyan medley!! Which is weird because the tracklist above doesn’t seem to include all the songs of the medley. Still, can’t argue with the episode credits. But WOW THAT MEGAMIX WAS SOOOO COOL!!!!! Oh, there are people wondering whether it was Mari Ijima singing Aimo but…unfortunately it was MAAYA!!!

I wouldn’t be surprise, when I saw the final episode I thought the same thing “aaah, maybe it wasn’t a pun and it was just way too long for the track list format code”. I agree it’s weird to put it at the end of the medley but perhaps it isn’t part of the official medley but they mixed it in for the episode. I’d be happier if it was a secret track on it’s own…
However, if it was a choice of being mixed into the medley and not having it at all I know which one I’d pick 0_0

Wow, amazing soundtrack. I got a hold of the leak, just finished listening. Completely awesome. Vocal songs are great as always; Aimo O.C. is one of my new favorite. As for BGM, I’ve fallen in love with Prologue F. The Alto/Sheryl theme! And the medley is awesome, as always.

some initial impressions from my first listen: although OST2 has THE MEDLEY and Shinkuu no Diamond Crevasse, i feel the first OST still gave a better mix.
for the BGMs, i’m adoring Prologue F and プロトカルチュア

Nicodou has some examples, shinkuu DC is gorgeous (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/nm4833053), and Maaya’s presence in THE MEDLEY is woefully lacking (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/nm4833176). I swear its a deliberate plot to make me wait till the movie ost or ost 3 for a full Maaya Aimo.

I have to agree with Fugue. While pretty much all of the songs are good to great (except Aimo O.C.) on the album, the order and mix is better on the first OST. Hope the mix is better on the release.
My favorite tracks are Yousei and Shinkuu no Diamond Crevasse, and the medley of course.
For the BGM, I like Prologue F, High School Life, and Tsuioku no Trumpet.

I agree with you uhsieh, the weakest song in the disc is Aimo OC (the devilish version of Aimo >_<) but is a nice soundtrack, though.
I hope for a special fan service disc , with special duets, karaokes, etc. I think it would be cool.

I just got myself a test copy and found that the track I so wanted to get my ears on is so not there v_V I mean who could’ve missed that BGM at the end of episode 16.. you know.. the one that had that triumph-piercing-through-the-universe kind of vibe to it? Well I did not, BUT INSTEAD the producers chose to fill like half the CD with vocals that they could have included in a complete-best or something.
First Code Geass missing important tracks (although I have to say the vocal gems here more than made up for them), now this…
