:(
Hi guys,
If you’re reading the news in Manila, well, my residence got affected. At first we thought it wouldn’t get bad, but we figured we had to evacuate once the water outside got waist-deep. I was able to save a few important things, and by a few I really mean a few. My piano is wrecked, and my keyboards, well I’m not hopeful. A lot of my non-oil paintings were destroyed as well. I’m currently in my fiance’s house.
Anyway, life goes on, I and my family are alive. I hope no new floods will happen again any time soon. But please expect me to keep in touch less, I have a lot of things to straighten out. If anyone has any news about this community, please just share in the other posts or in this one.
I’ll probably write about the whole ordeal when it’s over. And hey, I actually took pictures :\
EDIT: After I watched the news, I found out that we were relatively lucky. The water that went to our place was not running, it was only rising by about 5 inches per hour. There are also no upturned cars in our area.

Anyway, thanks for those people who sent the news, I’ll be updating a few tonight
-mai

I’m so sorry to hear about the damage! My heart goes out to you. It is good–and of course most important–that you and your family made it through without injury or worse, but it is still devastating to have such damage and loss of belongings. As someone who has lost writing and art before beyond repair or restoration, I know how devastating it can be to lose precious things like artwork that can’t simply be replicated or bought again. And your piano and keyboards, too…
I’ll be thinking good thoughts for you and hoping for the best. May everything get better for you soon. <3

I’m really sorry. The most important thing is that you and your family came out of this without any serious injuries but it’s really devastating to hear how much you’ve lost at the same time. I hope everything goes well for you and that you make your way back whenever you straighten things out. Take care and good luck mai.

@all – thanks for all your support, I’m over the crying/disbelief/helpless stage, and I have realized that this tragedy only brought my family and friends closer together. I believe it will take about a month to get everything back to normal, and I really hope that the upcoming storms would be more forgiving. We never expected this. It has NEVER flooded in front of our house until this. Thank you all again.

You know, I think this is a good time for someone from the site to sing Shinkuu no Diamond Crevasse. This crisis in the Philippines (I, too, live in Manila) reminds me of the time when Frontier was attacked by the Vajra…

@riepert – I was singing while doing the this evening’s laundry (which would have to be part 2 of 7 parts of laundry
). “After All there’s a moon, that still shines across the hillside, and it shines on all the dark and troubled lands of man… After all, there’s a light in the darkest night, turning us around, there’s a moon, that still shines upon us all, and it shines forever more… See how what’s given we abuse, see how all beauty is bent and bruised… see how what’s always there in front of us never even makes us curious to think that, all can disappear, without a trace erased…” (oh, that song again?)
@macross fan – I was able to save two laptops, and my brother saved his desktop by putting it inside the ceiling. The computer you see in the picture is mine, but it’s old and I don’t use it anymore… but that also sucks to see it ruined. I should have sold it when I had the time…

No matter what happens, you have your loved ones close to you. And though you might lose instruments and records and whatever, the music will always be alive inside of you.
“Troubled times are like waves, as they rise and fall; and this faith is my ship, and your love my ocean.”

I’m glad you and your family are safe. I heard about it on the news, but it’s more affecting when someone you know (over the internet, at least) was affected.
