Ranka’s Movie Costume + Other Newtype October Mag Images

Also, Gubaba has translated a few new things that were revealed in the magazine:
* Movie is opening 11/21.
* It’s called “Macross F ~The False Diva~.”
* It will feature the latest in visuals.
* There will be new costumes designed by Risa Ebata, including Ranka as a “Valkyrie Girl,” which should please the old-school Macross fans.
* Ranka is a campaign girl for the mecha design company “Dynam.” And of course there will be a campaign song.
* Kawamori says that the TV version of Ranka (as a campaign girl) was more cute, but in the movie, it’ll be more “active.”
* Megumi Nakajima says there are already lots of catchy songs in the movie, and they’re still recording more.

Newtype says that in the movie, Ranka is a campaign girl for “Dynam (ダイナム)” mecha. The design of her outfit imitates the VF-25.
And this one may be part of Sheryl’s debut release? I’m not sure, but the text kinda says, “I have debuted, therefore I’m no longer a child.”

If you are a guy who finds the Ranka/Valk outfit more exciting than the Sheryl/pink bikini outfit you are officially a mecha otaku (and a dismal failure as a man).
But even Sheryl has stiff competition for top female character this year.

Ranka looks….cute but…lame…isn’t it bad enough they stuffed her into the same two stage outfits for the entire series run of Macross F. Sheryl has at around 15 outifts or more for the show. Ranka got….what, five? I’d prefer a more equal competition to be honest. And I’m a Sheryl fangirl!
As for the pictures, I really like this ‘Sheryl’s debut’ angle they’re oing for. Even that bikini picture looks like the gravure work that lots of idols dabble in. It could have come from any oneof Morning Musume’s photo books! And the song sounds great still.

They’re both okay, but my first response to the mecha outfit was “What the hell is THAT, and what’s that thing she’s wearing around her waist?” As for Sheryl… I guess a full bikini shoot (complete with full figure) is one way to show she’s not a child…. which that mecha-Ranka outfit emphasizes with the latter (that she IS a kid).

Por qué disfrasan tan mal a Ranka debiesen darle la misma propaganda y calidad que Sheryl, ambas son exelentes cantantes, no entiendo porque tanta diferencia. Acepto que venda a Sheryl como un icono sexual; pero nose, podrian hacerles disfraces más “lindos” a Ranka-chan, yo creo que todos aceptan que su personaje es más infantil, pero DIGNIDAD!!!!. Si alguien se puede comunicar con los productores, digale porfavor!!!, creo que no soy la única que quiere ver a Ranka Lee en un concierto con más producción y mejor vestimenta.

I just think that they are going with the extremes, with Ranka catering to a different kind of crowd. I personally don’t find her costume too bad, because I’ve seen real girls try to wear mecha outfits in cutified form, and I found it kinda cute+sexy too.

Ranka’s new outfit is weird, therefore I like it. I expect a lot of weird fanart from it already. And I also like how they’re showing us Sheryl’s debut.
On another note: I can’t wait to listen to the soundtrack, argh!

Okay Wow Ranka’s outfit O_O. I guess its cute but I seriously wish they’d give her not the same costumes as Sheryl but at least the same quality but if my Spanish is correct then someone already beat me to this rant. On a side note it’s cool that they are doing Sheryl’s debut album. I’m guessing its going to be like DYRL where Sheryl (like Minmay) is having her first concert or something like that instead of already being a successful star
