Kanno Co-wrote the lyrics of Spice & Wolf ED?! …NOT!

UPDATE: Chris Mosdell has answered my email:

Hi Mai,

Thanks for the “spicy” enquiry, and for the complimentary comments on my lyrical lunacy.
Umm, as for Yoko’s involvement in the composition of “Ringo Hiyori: The Wolf Whistling Song” I think that somehow the Ink Music website (a site not controlled by me) might have lead to the debate as to the origins of the composition. Hopefully my own website sorts out the conundrum. (Check it out under Spicy Wolf in the Millennium Maul section.)

Ringo Hiyori, Spice and Wolf ED

This is an off-shoot of the other post about Chris Mosdell, in whose website the text, “Similarly, in 2008, Mosdell and Yoko Kanno co-wrote the theme song to the new anime smash hit, Spice & Wolf” is seen.

As of now, we’re sure that he wrote the lyrics to Run Wolf Warrior from Wolf’s Rain, but we have no information that Kanno was involved in Spice and Wolf. After I verified that Chris Mosdell did work on Spice and Wolf, and hearing the lyrics to the song, I did start thinking that Kanno had a hand in this.

I’ve sent an email to Chris Mosdell through his official website, to try to get clarification on the matter. Assuming that I don’t get my reply, you guys might want to ask him yourself :P

I actually did the same runaround after seeing the trailer to Ink Music about 3 weeks ago. I was like “lul wut” but I couldn’t find anything concrete either.

As an aside, man I want to see that movie now XD

I couldn’t just dismiss it right away because Chris and she have been working for a while now… I hope I get a reply in the mail soon.

So it’s Kanno’s fault we got this engrish ED than? lol. Much prefer “Perfect World” which is ROCKY CHACK’s ending for Spice and Wolf II.

  4. mai Says:

You call that Engrish?! :P The pronunciation is Engrish, which isn’t Kanno’s or even Mosdell’s fault. Neither of them even had a hand with the composition or arrangement.

Besides, if Mosdell really is the main lyricist, he would have polished anything that Kanno put into it.

    The lyrics are really cute^^
But the singing <_< The “engrish” is really terrible… I couldn’t even hear any language at first xD
I love the show by the way^^ Horo is the best :D
