Chris Mosdell Documentary
Wow, thanks to Spoony for sharing this over at YKDB *__*
Chris Mosdell is an artist who also wrote some really memorable lyrics in Kanno’s works. In the video below, Maaya Sakamoto and Kanno both comment on his work:
The video is also available in Ink Music Movie. Kanno and Sakamoto are both in the Cast and Crew section of the website. This is only the trailer, and the documentary itself is 90 minutes long. On June 18, 2009, the film has had a private viewing to an audience of film distributors, music industry insiders, artists and celebrities.
BUT. Something caught my eye the About Ink Music section:
Similarly, in 2008, Mosdell and Yoko Kanno co-wrote the theme song to the new anime smash hit, Spice & Wolf.
WHAT?! WHAAAAT?! Sorry, I’ve been keeping this website for years now and this must be a typo. But if it’s Wolf’s Rain, that’s not 2008, and the lyrics to the OP of that was Tim Jensen’s. Let me contact the webmaster… (edit: the website is having problems sending my note… anyone else try?)
EDIT EDIT: Uh, seems like the ED theme really has lyrics written by Chris Mosdell. And it sounds like something Kanno would write… Does it mean…
Anyway, getting back, for those who need a refresher on some of his lyrics with Kanno, here are some videos from Youtube. I chose videos that had the lyrics in the side bar:
After All (Turn A Gundam)
Beauty is Within Us (Ghost in the Shell: SAC)
The Singing Sea (Cowboy Bebop)
The Garden of Everything (Rahxephon/Nikopachi)
Run Wolf Warrior (Wolf’s Rain)

I just looked it up and that ED song was composed by Taro Yamashita and “noe”. It also says so in the ending credits of the show. Although it sounds a biiiit like something Yoko Kanno might write, I think she would have found a better singer for it *cough*.

I made a separate post about it since it’s another issue
But I still contacted him about it just to clarify.

Wow, Chris Mosdell is a lot more talented and influential than I thought. Really looking to seeing the full documentary, hope it’s released on dvd and/or streamed online.
