Genius Party - “Baby Blue” Music by Yoko Kanno
|
Genius Party is an anthology of fourteen short animated films from Studio 4°C to be released on July 7, 2007.
If you are up-to-speed with anime news, then you have probably heard that Kanno was ensigned once more by the genius Shinichiro Watanabe to do the music for his short film “Baby Blue”, last film in the trailer to your right. The other directors who strike a note for me would have to be Shoji Kawamori (Macross), and Koji Morimoto (Noiseman Sound Insect, Memories). These look like high quality animations - I don’t think we’ll see any “talking heads” and cell repetitions in this animation. What’s so special about this series of animations? Just read their ambitious concept statement: |

What’s the pride of Japan today? Is it the beauty of Mt. Fuji? Maybe our sense of diligence? How about a young pitcher standing on a Major-League mound? Take your time, there are no wrong answers. But we hope you’re not missing one. HINT: It inspires awe and madness and love in people around the world, from Hollywood titans to street kids. We’re talking about ANIME. And in July 2007, it will rock the world again. Talent once divided has united beneath the STUDIO4˚C flag to create an unprecedented film collection. The list of creators was built up to call them, who with the most powerful talents and recognized as the top in the Japanese animation industry. Limitless creativity dancing across the canvas in illustrations both bold and sensitive cinematic tricks and stories that leave no time to breathe. The personalities of seven auteurs-sometimes facing off, sometimes resonating, always going for the jugular of the senses. Let’s face it: Genius Party. This is the pride of Japan today.
