7/7 Concert is Today! (Scratch Board Post)
So, have fun to everyone who’s going! I’ll be going around the internet around the time after the concert to see what people report. If you yourself are going and you decide to make a review, please don’t hesitate to post here, or post a link here of your review or some other person’s review for everyone to see. Any language is welcome. I’m not sure if I’ll be awake to read and make a post about everyone’s reviews, so this would be good for everyone who wants to read the latest news.

I’m going and I’ll do a report either tonight after I get back, or tomorrow depending on how exhausted I am after the concert. Regardless, I’ll be sure to post a link here once I finish it!
I posted in the other thread as well, but if anyone sees an American girl in a light green t-shirt, blue shorts, and a black Wolf’s Rain bag, please come and say hello! I’m friendly and would be happy to meet other concert-goers.
I’m leaving within the next hour to head for the venue (leaving quite early just in case), and I honestly can’t even believe I’m going! It feels like a dream or something! It’s incredible.

I’m not sure that good in Japanese so I might be misreading that, but so many of them are commenting on it like, “Kanno’s moon/tsuki no mayu, I approve!” etc etc. To be sure, I’ll ask Yy when he goes online.

Someone said he saw 8 HD cameras, and thought that if it were just to project an image on the stage, then SD cameras would have sufficed. Many of them are asking for a DVD even if they have watched the show.

Oh, and of course there were many praises for all the singers. But a lot of people were complaining that there were too many Macross F songs there, but I think it should understandable because it’s a new release, and there were lots of hits there. They were also complaining that Origa didn’t get to sing enough, and they said she is amazing.

The concert was so amazing I don’t even know what to say. I spent well over $1000 (that I made working my butt off in the last few weeks) and traveled a few thousand miles to go to this concert, and yet it still managed to not only exceed my expectations, but blow them out of the water. I was so amazed and euphoric the entire concert… I can’t even believe I got to see it with my own eyes. It’s hard for me to accept that it was real still! On the way to the train station after the concert, I could hear almost nothing but murmurs of “Sugeee~” and “Densetsu~” and similar sentiments to that, and everyone looked so dazed and happy.
It sounds ridiculous, but I feel like it would be nearly impossible for a concert to be better than this one was. It was just mind-blowing to me, and…gah. I cried a little and I am just so, so, so, so thankful that I got to see this.
I’m going to need a while to process this all… I will probably do a full report tomorrow, and I’m hoping too many precious memories don’t fade before then.
And though it’s already been verified, I’ll verify it again: Yoko Kanno did sing Tsuki no Mayu/Moon in clear view, and it’s quite definite that she is Gabriela Robin. Not that this should really shock any of us, but it is surprising that she just came out about it like that! I feel like I witnessed a historical event, haha.
Anyway, I’ll post a link to a report once I get one written up in the morning. I need sleep first, as I’m quite exhausted! I don’t think my brain could handle writing anything longer than this comment at the moment (and barely that!).

yea, she did come up in a chicken outfit for the “encore” portion and then ditched it for the last leg of the show. she wore the red cape that you saw from the bebop concert way back in the beginning.
there were a few segments where it’s more performance than music, and they were pretty fun.
ANYWAYS. awesome concert. will try to write more on my blog but i imagine the 2ch thread will have more info than i can speak about.
the booklet that you can buy at the show has a “interview with Gabriela Robin” section, it is nonsense!
a lot of the material in the booklet has english translation, too.
it also contains a partial set list, up to Blue. The rest was transcribed above by Mai. moon is definitely awesome…not just for kanno’s vocals but well, it’s moon. backed by warsaw philharmonic
The Gabi tie-in is not a big deal given there’s a picture of her in the booklet in the gabi spot, lol.
what can i say, it’s epic. i think my favorite is want it all back, where may’n, megumi-chan and maaya did matching dance moves like show girls and comes up with the backup vocals for mai.
it’s solidly my second most awesome concert ever, and it’s probably going to hold that spot for the foreseeable future and then some.

Hi there, I gave a lot of info to Mai, I’m sure she’ll make a god post about everything.
A word about that concert ? “Magic” maybe, or “Awesome”, or “Holy ****”.
I wouldn’t know where to begin: there was the very moving Moon at the very end, the first Torukia sung by the 5 female singers, a Platina emerged from nowhere after what could have been a Macross Frontier medley, Blue with Maaya for the chorus and with an alternative ending only with the orchestra strings and Mai Yamane singing with a sweet and silent voice, the Garden of Everything, Megumi who performed a totally impressive version of Voices (I withdraw when I said that she couldn’t sing…), and a lot of other crazy things… This was a 3 hours concert without any break, but those were the shortest hours I ever spent
And I gotta sleep (it’s almost 4am and I have a train at 9am)… I’ll give more infos soon
I hope I will have the internet in my next hotel (I’m travelling all over Japan for the next 10 days ^^).

They all look so colorful and vibrant. I am beyond depressed that this will most likely not be released as a DVD or CD. Thank you all for your comments and reviews and links and pictures lol. I am happy that those of us who couldn’t be there can at least imagine it now.

OMG I’ve been crying all day in regret but after seeing this, I just feel like slapping myself for not making the extra effort to go to this live T_____T

Now all we can hope for is that Yoko reconsiders the release of SOMETHING orz It really makes no sense to have 8 HD cameras rolling around the entire stadium for the whole time just for screen projection…. although both the captain herself and Steve did comment on having no DVD for the show….
Seems like CB’s director Watanabe-san was the one who directed the opening anime medley? Heard it was a flawless show-off for all of Yoko’s works! That being said, I think nobody would have minded if that clip were to be taken out of a live DVD if that was the issue of it not being released…. I’m sure with all the technologies nowadays cutting that out won’t affect the transitions at all….
Nonetheless, totally support your DVD-request thread mai-san!!!!

The fact that two of my friends had extra tickets just made me hate myself more ;;_;;
Why did it have to be on a Tuesday?! Thinking back though, maybe I should have just let it loose, skip work, and cash in the insane plane tickets…. orz
Let’s hope that “I promise that everyone who see our show will live longer. So it won’t be your last time!” line in the pamphlet isn’t truly a lie despite the fact that our dear captain claims herself as a liar lol;;;;

p.s.As reminded by a friend, Yoko seemed to have mentioned in a radio show (can’t remember which one…. oh god I have terrible memories orz) that she herself doesn’t really want this live to be released commercially….
Well sounds like something she’d say but still!

I think I’ve heard of it too, she saying, “Live performance is made of live things”, and “Live should vanish in the sky”, but I’m not sure of the source either. I’m only sure of the JWave interview where she said that there would be no DVD.
