An Open Letter
Just now, I received an honest comment from Tomosaka in the “If the Kanno+Seatbelts 7/7 Concert was released as a DVD, would you buy it?” saying:
No. Live shoud disappear in the sky, Kanno said.
From Japan.
As you have to understand Tomosaka, I deleted your comment because it would appear to add to the “Yes” votes for which the post was created for. Had I created a poll in which the Yes and No’s would be readily seen, then I wouldn’t have done so, but please allow me to publish your comment nonetheless, and express my own feelings about the situation.
I’m not familiar with where exactly Kanno said these words, but I suppose the veracity of the source wouldn’t matter as she has personally said in a very straight-forward fashion that it would not have a DVD. I personally have given up the idea that a DVD would be released, as I am only a consumer and don’t dictate what they want or can give us.
While on the plus side, I am relieved that I wouldn’t have to spend for a future DVD such as this if it were to be published, I would still be more than happy to shell out just as much, or even much more than the price of the ticket, just to get a glimpse of the event from a TV screen. As a fan, the only way I could support an artist is in the purchase of goods that he or she brings out (aside from helping spread news through this blog), and I believe it a good investment of money as it also provides entertainment, satisfaction, and inspiration, among many others.
Having said this, I may appear to demand her to satisfy the fans in every plausible way which includes publishing a DVD. But no, in fact, I and many fans around here, have been with this community for years now, and have heard of many Kanno-related live productions come and go without ever having a DVD published. I believe we all just want to express that we’re here, and that we’d love to have an easier way to view her live performance. I may not be speaking for the community, but I would stay a fan regardless.
Thank you for reading my spiel, hope I got my ideas across. That, and enjoy the concert

I don’t think it is unduly demanding to want a dvd. If you look at it from a service industry point of view, an artist needs us but the reverse is not always true. They can promote and release all the albums they want but if customers don’t buy they are out on the streets busking
Obviously the artist doesn’t owe a fan anything but there is a lot to be said for keeping the customers happy. At the best it can be a symbiotic relationship.
I don’t think you owe it to anyone to explain yourself and I would think most of the people here feel the same way. And, not picking on anyone, but the one negative vote is from Japan. So that person actually has a shot of going. Come to think of it, there will be people in Japan who cant attend, I bet they would buy a live dvd without hesitation.
