A Little More Dose of 7/7 Despair

…delivered by a bunch of chicks.

Q8. Releasing a Live DVD is commonsensical, surely you know this? (37 years old, Industry Insider)

(D)omestic (V)iolence (D)on’t. (Commanding Officer)

It is excessively difficult to thoroughly achieve a recording of the full live, we’re terribly sorry, but right now there won’t be a product to be released. To begin with, there is no recording. By all means, please be a witness to this great event in this century.  (Staff Officer)

Q9. I also applied for a ticket but I didn’t get in!! What is this!! (angry) I write in seriousness, and you should read in seriousness!! (Age unknown, Kanno Yoko)

You’re not the only one who didn’t get in… (Commanding Officer)

The anticipated number was exceeded in the pre-sales as a great number of applications were received, as a result, I’m afraid to say that in the lottery, it seems that many did not get in. There will be a chance to obtain tickets in the future. Certainly, please don’t give up your application. I am looking forward to meeting you in the assembly hall. [sales info here] (Staff Officer)

Oh yeah, if you guys are wondering, we’re still going on with the “If the Kanno+Seatbelts 7/7 Concert was released as a DVD, would you buy it?” poll thing. We currently have 26 entries. I’m sure there’s more who don’t read this blog who would buy it.

So Japanese to say “sorry” all the time when they can do otherwise -_- Ok, recording a concert is difficult? So, great bands have never done it? Sure, we never had a DVD of a concert of Rolling Stones, Madonna…X-Japan lol
    Tsk, I’m angry… Not even a recording………….

I think the difficulty they are referring to may be linked to music rights. Thing is, they were able to publish all the music in one album (Space Bio Charge), and Maaya was also able to release a DVD with various anime themes in them, so why is this a problem? Perhaps the artists are signed up with different labels? Again, they were able to release the CD. Whatever, I wish they actually stated the reason for the “difficulty” just to make it clear.

If I were living in Japan, I don’t have an excuse not to go. But in this case… *frustration* With the price of the plane ticket to Japan, and the concert ticket (plus the fact that I have to cancel another flight), it would be insane if I go.

I’m also pretty much doubting that they won’t record it. Come on!!! They’re importing a whole orchestra and they won’t record it?!?!?

I think this post was supposed to be funny, but I hardly laughed. I actually think the blood drained from my face when they said they’re not recording “そもそも撮ってません”.

Still, I have hopes that this is just a ticket marketing gimmick.

  3. Pippa Says:

Perhaps the licensing issue is that whereas Maaya’s songs were all released on Victor’s own label Flying Dog, aren’t Yoko’s all dotted around? Also because some of the performers are international like the Warsaw orchestra etc. perhaps they have stipulations in their contracts that mean they don’t want it filmed….?

I have no idea at all T_T Turn A Gundam got filmed too…..didn’t the one in Korea get a DVD too?…

Those QA questions are hard to digest…

    pfffffffffffffffff

  6. mai Says:

@Pippa - The only title I know that is not Victor’s is Darker than Black. But they were also able to release High Heel Runaway under Victor, so no problemo! :\

Origa is with Gemmatika, Yamane seems like she’s an Indie, Maaya is with Victor, the rest I dunno. In this case, I think the concert income will be able to pay royalties (or a bond? or whatever it is?) to Gemmatika.

  7. Kai Says:

This is kind of dumb. Get the participants to sign a waiver saying its ok and clear it with their respective labels, do something.
They must realize that Kanno is popular outside Japan. Whats the matter Victor? Afraid of making money?

@Mai Plan B: Smuggle someone in with a camera.

  8. mai Says:

    ^Yy doesn’t even have a ticket yet!!!

  9. omo Says:

I think they ARE afraid of making money. While it is true that they were able to release SBC CD, there must be some reason all those different rights holders were able to let it slide… Maybe a concert video would be too much? I don’t know.

  10. Pippa Says:

Maybe Yoko herself doesn’t like being filmed…

  11. Kai Says:

That seems weird if its the reason. She doesn’t like being filmed but shes okay on stage in front of hundreds of people?

  12. mai Says:

But she has been filmed before!!!

  13. djsilt Says:

she doesn’t seem to dislike being filmed in those promotional videos

  14. Yyrkoon Says:

    T_T

  16. Pippa Says:
