I can’t understand the first few lines of the song, better ask my Chinese friends. Apparently this song is entitled “超時空飯店 娘々” roughly translated to “Super-dimensional Chinese Restaurant Girl(?)”. It is composed and arranged by Yoko Kanno, sang by Lynn Minmeh (sic).
This information is found on the new Macross F Official website music page. Interesting how the singers’ names are written out. May’n is marked as “Sheryl starring May’n”, Minmeh doesn’t have the VA, and Megumi is marked “Ranka = Megumi”.

Also, if this is Mandarin, the first words, “Hau chii li li” (I know this is the wrong way to romanicize it) would be “Good eat”, or ‘Good tasting”, except my Mandarin’s as rusty as the Titanic by now…
No, it’s definitely Mandarin, and I’m not at all fluent in that, especially not now.

Well, the lines of the Nyan lyric can be translated as:
Woman, woman
You’re so woman
(actually “ni hao nyan” means “you are so sissy” in Chinese,
But I’m sure they writing this line just want rhyming…)

@Naddie - This CM will be in the OST, I’ve read some news about the Macross F OST and they said that the “CM song” will be included in the first cd. And it’s not a real CM… it was played as some sort of eye catch before the commercial break (thus making it look like just another commercial, thus making it one of the coolest eye catches I’ve seen).
@V - What about if we remove the words “nyan” in the song, because that’s the name of the restaurant? I think “ni hao” means “how are you?” isn’t it?
@Goliath - yeah, me too. I thought that the Macross fans were just gushing over it because it’s part of the Macross franchise. But then… it is really cute!!!

I agree with mai, when I first heard it I thought the ‘nyan’ parts were cat sounds (as in meow in japanese, can’t remember where I read that from), which pretty much means ‘how are you’
No idea what the ‘deculture’ bit is though
the “Sheryl starring May’n” thing…it’s sort of part of the storyline in Macross F I think, similar to what they did in Macross Plus (Sharron Apple thing). I’m just guessing though

@anombob - “deculture” is some sort of expression in the Macross Universe meaning something like “amazing”, or “wow”, or just an expression of amazement.
I already have a theory about the names. They can’t put Sheryl = May’n because she’s not the voice actress of Sheryl, unline Ranka and Megumi. The Minmei bit, I don’t know

In MF official website, “Nyan Nyan” was song by “リン ミンメエ”(Minmeh) not “リンミン メイ”(Minmei).
Minmei is the name of heroine in Macross 1.
So i think there’s something intresting.it should be a character that not existed. from voice i think it should be gabrieala robin XD

Maguro-man is what I heard in that second line - the famous tuna buns that she had with her in the take-out box in Episode 3 and from the Nyan Nyan CM. The last bit of the first line sounded like ‘ly ly’… but my Mandarin is awful, and I couldn’t figure out what that was. ‘Ai’ sounds pretty similar in Japanese and Mandarin, so that wouldn’t have been it unless the singer completely botched the lyrics there.

The words before “Gorgeous” are all in chinese.
so the lyrics should be:
Hao chi lai lai （delicious, comin comin）
Mei gu niang （beautiful girl）
Nyan nyan, nyan nyan （Nyan nyan, nyan nyan）
Ni hao nyan. （how are you, nyan）
Gorgeous, delicious, deculture!
“Nyan nyan” is the name of that chinese restaurant，so it can’t be translated.

And just how many languages have Yoko Kanno used in her songs now? There was French, Russian (I think - the Origa song?), her own language (pretty much everything Gabriela-related), English, Japanese… I’m sure I missed some. But whoa I love YK & her team - always bringing us new experience xD

I forgot to add, but it’s been in my mind for a while now. We all know that Kanno started out as (and is still) a CM song writer, and she has perhaps as much CDs as CMs. Isn’t this insert song VERY appropriate for her to do? I wonder if it’s possible that someone asked her to do a restaurant jingle for the anime, or she volunteered

mai: No idea, but Yoko Kanno knows her stuff with regards to commercials. It seems almost like a nod to Kanno herself, with this ‘eyecatch’ in Episode 1.
Plus, you’ll notice it playing in the background in Episode 4 at Nyan Nyan - but without the sound. Instead, we get the acoustic/harp instrumental version of Aimo. Which is very appropriate for the mood there between Ranka and Alto when they discuss her loss and his reasons for joining SMS.

My mistake: it’s “Aimo” at 21:14 and continues till 22:05 that starts without the vocals. It’s used as BGM since Ranka’s feeling a little sober about her whole Miss Macross experience and the thought that she wasn’t quite ready for it.
The COMMERCIAL is playing without sound in the background, and can be spotted at 20:29.
