The Tokyo Anime Fair 2008’s blog details the winners of this year’s awards. Yoko Kanno has been given the award for best music for her work in the Auquarion movie. She has previously won this award in the years 2003 and 2004, making this her third time to win the award.

The Tokyo Anime Fair awards ceremonies will be held on March 29, 2008 at the Tokyo Big Sight convention center’s East Hall.

OVA of the Year:
Nasu: A Migratory Bird with Suitcase

Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone

There are a lot of sour fan reactions regarding Evangelion’s domination of this awards, both earning Anime of the Year and Best Director for Hideki Anno, considering that it’s just a remake. ANN made the note that “Under the rules of the award, the winning work must be one that “made the greatest contribution to the world of anime” during the year of its release.” I’m not sure why that rule had to be emphasized because it had me confused - was Evangelion’s win a cumulative influence of the previous franchise, plus this remake?
