I like to have a look at the track list before deciding on getting the CD but it looks like there are going to be quite an interesting spread of tracks. Is Kanno on a roll or what?

they didn’t do anything for macross plus since “The Seatbelts” was a false band just for Cowboy Bebop, even if the members of the seatbelts were long-time partners of Yoko before and after … so hopefully it means that all the songs will be rearrnaged for the seatbelts line-up

@dj… You’re right! Maybe they’ll do band arrangements? It doesn’t say so though. Now I think about it, Dokun Dokun is good enough to be called a Seatbelts song right?
I think they just decided to package the album as “The Seatbelts” even though they didn’t exist before Bebop because they had to call the “band songs” by a collective name.
@all - CMYoko2, a set of Seatbelts CDs, a TV drama, a live performance, then the Macross F Movie. Nice, nice. It’s not exactly her rest year, even if these are mostly compilations and previously heard songs.

It’s probably a new arrangement. Or all the members DID work on other shows, but it just wasn’t listed as THE SEATBELTS, but as their own personal names. Someone would have to check the CD booklets.

If it’s just a compilation, I’ll pass. I already have almost all of Kanno’s soundtracks, and it’s not worth my money for a couple unreleased tracks. However this is a great release for anyone who doesn’t have many Kanno cds.

Wow, a lot of great tracks on this compilation. I don’t have many Yoko Kanno CD’s (still searching for Lovers only from Escaflowne…) so it would be good choice to buy this one.

@Virgilius Sade - It can’t be that bad to be selling out, as it’s her first time to get a spotlight like this. It’s just a mark that her popularity has gone up a notch. She deserves this bit of attention, as she’s had quite a lengthy career without much fanfare. I see this album as one of the few “Kanno” releases, one with her name on it and not animations, and it’s a nice token of her career so far.
And… she has always been a profit-maker. Doing CM’s for big-name companies? High-budget animations with popular directors? It’s there in her niche. The way she’s being presented right now doesn’t seem to be out of line, and the fans want it too so I don’t see a problem with letting her and her gang profit from it.
Also, I believe “eco. size” means “economy size” which means it’s shorter. This is actually a good sign for me, that they didn’t just twist some knobs or pass the songs through some filter and voila, remastered! I would understand why some people would not purchase this CD, but for me, the intention behind it seems well enough, and I’ll surely enjoy an all-Kanno tracklist that was picked by someone other than me.

Only, you’re not paying for 3 CDs. A regular CD release costs about Y3045 (Macross F OSTs), times three that’s Y9135. CMYoko2, is Y2730, so times 3 is Y8190. Nyan Tama, another vocal collection, is only two CDs, but is priced Y3800. In comparison, this release with 3 CDs is priced only Y3900, which is just right for a compilation CD with some tracks cut off and some new tracks added in, in my opinion.
One major reason not to buy this is if you already have most of her CDs, and you wouldn’t pay half the price for them, especially with some songs not in full version. In my case, I don’t have all these CDs, and I think this is a steal.

If I were to introduce anyone to Yoko Kanno I think this compilation would probably do her justice, even with the eco size songs
But yeah, full-sized songs would have been nicer ^^; But I noticed that the eco sized ones are her most popular ones anyway? (Most, but not all.) Lol more money size

for me, if its Kanoo its good. Add the Seatbelts, its better than good. Add Origa (especially Inner Universe, best song EVER - IMHO) and its gold.
