Kanno Non-Attendance in TAF2009… but…

ç¾½éŒµç‘ from Wanna Be A Wind reports that he went to the TAF2009, but Kanno was not able to attend to get her award because she is recording for NHK (perhaps the “Kaze ni Mai Agaru Vinyl Sheet” TV drama, and that’s most likely the reason she was in New York recently). A representative from Flying Dog filled in for her to accept the award, and announced that…
*breathe*
she will have a live anime compilation concert on July 7, 2009.
*explodes*
That’s a Tuesday, but whatever. To be in Japan at that date… to get tickets… ;__; I can only hope for a DVD… ;__;
I want Origa, Maaya, Mai Yamane, Steve Conte, AKINO, Akino Arai, May’n and Megumi to be there. Or is that too much to ask? Any of the artists who are in Japan at that time will do. Come on!!! Origa is an old friend of hers, Maaya (no explanation here DUUUUH), Mai Yamane was also in the Korea live so she has to be here, Steve Conte is my choice male vocalist she’s worked with, AKINO sang her most popular anthemic song for Sousei no Aquarion, Akino Arai (no explanation either, I just want to hear her), May’n and Megumi of course!!!
I’m probably jumping the gun but Flying Dog, Victor, whoever is out there, I’d buy the DVD if you put it out.

i noticed that you’ve just put “she will have a live anime compilation concert on July 7, 2009.” in red, bold fonts ^^ is this the first time she’s staging something like this?
March 25th, 2009 at 1:40 pm
@Josue – The scalpers will have a field day, I guess
@fugue – The only time she has done an anime compilation performance was in Korea, two years ago (if I am right, she has never done an anime compilation concert in Japan, ever, unless it’s under the name of an artist, namely Maaya). The concerts involving her last year were Macross Concerts, not Kanno concerts. Sure her Korea performance was primarily for Ragnarok, but she had her buds sing songs from other animations. This new concert is not a “Maaya Concert”, or a “Macross Concert”, or a “Gundam Concert”, or a “Bebop Concert”. This one will be a “Kanno Concert”. For me, it feels like it solidifies that she has her own name now, and in Japan specifically!
So well, it might not be her first compilation performance, but it’s in Japan, so I’m expecting more performers than the one in Korea.

“I want Origa, Maaya, Mai Yamane, Steve Conte, AKINO, Akino Arai, May’n and Megumi to be there.” I’m glad that you are keeping your requests reasonable Mai
I’m surprised its taken so long for something like this to happen. However, the list of songs to be considered for the concert would be huge. It’ll be tough to choose which to include.
Time to petition Victor for a concert dvd. And send a list of requested songs to help them decide. Or they could have an online vote for songs like they did with Megumi’s recent release.
March 25th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
@Kai – There should be a song request!!! But I bet they’d first consider those songs that are really popular, like Don’t Be Late, Seikan Hikou, Diamond Crevasse, Sousei no Aquarion, Platina, Yakusoku wa Iranai, Triangler, The Real Folk Blues, Inner Universe, etc.
But they could also do some more obscure fan favorites like Pearls… Ai no Rinkaku… Chibikko Folk…
tum dee dum, a fan can dream

Now that you mention Pearls, I want Illaria Graziano there (preferably singing a duet of something, anything, with Maaya)
March 25th, 2009 at 5:36 pm
hey you forgot james wendt in your list! i want him to be there too!
March 25th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
Whoever will go, I can really smell a live DVD coming out of this. I feel like my prayers have been answered *sniff*

What? No Scott Matthew in wishlist? I think her works with him are her best stuff. Hope there won’t be much Macross F pop. I realy like her „jazz“ Bebop concert.
March 25th, 2009 at 8:00 pm
let’s hope that will not finish in another macF only show

@Goliath: That sucks! Hope there’s a way for you to go! Someone from this site should get to ^^
March 27th, 2009 at 2:50 pm
I’ll be in Japan at that time. But it’s on tanabata…., if Sakamoto Maaya is there I will try hard to be there.
Who knows, maybe it will just be an instrumental concert?
March 28th, 2009 at 12:41 pm
@Naru: Lucky if you do get to go
(And you know we’ll all want reports if you do, lol)
