New Macross F Song “Sou da Yo” Sample in Bandai Channel
This time, I can’t bring the goods, but I can show you where it is.
Bandai Channel is playing a limited only stream of the Macross F Super Dimensional Talk Show where a very short sample of Souda Yo is said to be heard.
Go to this link:
http://www.b-ch.com/
In the search bar, type:
マクロスF
click the one marked “new”.
You will need IE, a Bandai Channel account, and perhaps a Japanese IP address. I already have an account, but as of now I don’t have a Japanese IP, so if no one rips this or records the snippet before I get home, I’ll do it, if I can, after a few hours. As of now… Kai!!! You’re still in Japan right?!
EDIT: Many thanks to ff, here’s the sample!!! (By the way, the text towards the end of the video says “仮” or “temporary”, so the visuals, and consequently the music, might not be finalized yet. There were differences between the leaked Ao no Ether and the official recorded one.)

Well here’s one interesting comment I got from the net…
I am so poor in translating Japanese internet language, but at least this looks like positive feedback, that it is a love song like Ao no Ether.
And someone’s jab on the lyrics:
「そうだよ」
そうだよ 君の声・・・
いつだって・・・・
何度も 届けていくよ
光とエナジー
今、会えなくけれど
僕は元気で・・・だから
・・・・・ないけれど
君の元気で・・・・いいな~
Souda yo
Souda yo, kimi no koe…..
Itsudatte…..
Nandemo todokete iku yo
Hikari to energy
Ima, aenaku keredo
Boku wa genki de……dakara
….nai keredo
Kimi no genki de….. ii na
That doesn’t look like a very short snippet, perhaps it’s short but there’s a lot of talk over it?

Waaah! Thank you!!! It’s a very simple song, very cute too
I was a bit hoping for a more emotive vocal delivery this time, but well, this is her “Ranka” voice! I can’t wait for HQ!
(In the lyrics above, “koe” should be “kotoba”, based on the video.)

Ah! Megumi learned to sing! What a beautiful voice
**Just kidding** … Or not
But the song itself doesn’t seem bad except for the voice part ^^

It doesn’t sound half bad, but between Maaya and Megumi’s debut I can definitely see the parallels. Luckily, Maaya got a more likeable character to start with (although Hitomi had her childish, selfish moments too). I like the sound of the song. The sound bites are so out of context and are probably put with clips intentionally to through us off story revisions – can’t wait!
I want my love of MF to be reignited!

Pippa, I keep imagining Souda Yo if it were with Maaya’s voice… :\
March 14th, 2009 at 11:52 pm
@Pippa, didn’t you like Ranka?
Listening to Sou dayo made me think of Tomodachi and Hikari no naka he. Isn’t it odd we keep measuring her against Maaya?
March 15th, 2009 at 12:04 am
Maybe Ranka’s mother will sing that song too… *drool*

@Kai:
Let’s say I’m not a fan ^^;;;; ‘Alto-kun, Alto-kun’ isn’t my cup of tea. Which is sad because in the beginning she was really likable.
As for measuring her against Maaya, it isn’t hard to find similarities in their career paths. Both starting as teenagers on a Kawamori show, singing Kanno songs…even their voices sound alike sometimes. I assume Maaya was consciously chosen as Ranka’s mother for these reasons…? It did lend a family vibe to the whole production of MF I thought, but that was just me XD

Maaya also started off younger than Megumi, so my expectation for Megumi is equal, if not higher to it. She’s even a bit older than May’n.
March 15th, 2009 at 9:17 am
@Pippa granted the ‘needy insecure girl’ was not that endearing but I just let it pass as part of Ranka’s character. My main problem with Ranka is she was competing against Sheryl, which is no competition at all (both vocally, character wise and um, visually).
@Mai, you’re really tough on Megumi
(especially since no one can beat Maaya sama!)
March 15th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
Kai, I just don’t feel her delivery, which is a sad since I really like the tone of her voice.
March 15th, 2009 at 6:12 pm
@Kai ‘let it pass as part of her character’ – exactly. I don’t like her character ^^;;; We wouldn’t be friends in real life, that’s for sure!
@Mai I thought Megumi was picked from an audition though. I even saw the audition up on Victor’s website (I wanted to enter!) if she had no prior experience at all before doing MacF then I’d say delivery would be something that comes with experience. With Maaya, she was in a large theater troupe from 8 years old or something working with famous people. I think we have to forgive Megumi’s inexperiences sometimes. I think you’ll find her a couple of ‘months’ older than May’n and since May’ns also been in the industry a lot longer than Megumi under a different stage name I must doth protest the comparison ^^;;;;;;;; age has nothing over experience.
I listen to Anata no oto much more than any other Macross Frontier song *hides*

aaaannnd I just realised what terrible English I had in that comment 0_o ugh, this cold is making me see double!
March 15th, 2009 at 10:10 pm
…how things would be different if *you* were Ranka’s voice
I’m not hating on Megumi at all, just being objective on what I observe, which is my preference. Even disregarding the age thing, my opinion of their voices remain the same. Her voice is not polished and powerful, and it works very well for the character that she’s voicing, but regardless of how appropriate it is for the role that she sings for, timbre alone for me does not make the cut. May’n is just quite the opposite, I hate her timbre, but her delivery is great. That said, I’m neither a huge fan of either singer, but I admire both for their strengths.

If *I* had been in MacF Ranka would’ve won that triangle

LOL

Thanks Guys for news, souda yo mp3 and web link on youtube.
Only thing that would be my biggest headache now is that should I go to Japan this summer for Macross F movie and another trip for possible concert? will I be able to go and do I have enough money?
I’m fan of Maaya, May’n and Megumi, so more of their song out, I’m happy!!!!!
