Macross All Song Book~Utatte Utatte Deculture♪~

UPDATE: Amazon Japan Preorder link added.

A Macross song book that contains all lyrics of all songs ever in the Macross franchise will be released on March 10, 2009. If I’m reading the Japanese text right, it will contain backstage information on the Macross F Budokan Concert last November 2008, and will contain the transcript of a 3 hour dialogue between Kawamori and Kanno. The book will also contain musical scores (not sure about this, maybe just the melody line. It’s too cheap for a full score) to songs featured in Macross F:

Ai Oboete Imasu ka?
Watashi no Kare wa Pilot
Totsugeki Love Heart
Triangler
Lion
Northern Cross
Diamond Crevasse
Don’t be Late
Seikan Hikou
Anata no Oto
Ao no Ether

For the list of songs whose lyrics will be published, please check e-animedia.net. Please note that “and others” is at the bottom of the page, so that list may not be exhaustive. It probably just goes to show the range of songs in this set.

This book is not yet available via Amazon or CDJapan, but I will update when either information comes up.

Lol wow. They are really milking this! I’ve never heard of any franchise releasing lyrics to their theme songs.

  2. mai Says:

yes, that’s right. milk, milk, milk :P

  3. fugue Says:

so, it’s cheaper than the piano score books and it’s got more songs? seems like a pretty good deal to me

  4. mai Says:

I still don’t know what to make of this. I’m assuming at least Amazon should have it by now, but it’s not there yet either. I was thinking this is unofficial as it’s not in the macrossf home page, but having transcripts of discussions of Kawamori and Kanno should make it official right? The question is, what kind of score is in here? It doesn’t say “piano arrangement” anywhere. IF this is a full score to those songs, then it’s well worth your 1500 yen right (I’d say it should be more than that…)?

  5. Spoony Says:

I doubt it’s a full score since, as you said, it’s far too cheap for that. Also there wouldn’t be enough interest for that kind of thing, would it? People who are interested in the lyrics wouldn’t really be studying the full scores. Not to mention 64 black and white pages is note enough for a score of ALL those songs, unless you had reeeeally tiny notes.

I think it’s just the melody line. :)

  6. mai Says:

I couldn’t put more details because we don’t have more, but I think it’s safe to assume that those are melody line scores :)

  7. Yoruko Says:

*sigh* I wish they’d release a full score book lols…because anybody who is slightly musically inclined can figure out just the melodies by ear…

If they at least give us chords, that would make it better~
