Ragnarok Online 2 - new Gabriela songs? Part 1

The Korean client rips for the soundtrack of Ragnarok Online 2 have emerged a few months ago, and there are songs that sound like Gabriela, although we can’t verify as of yet. We are posting them here because they have chant-like or childish vocals, and the lyrics don’t seem to be a language we know of.

The music is really beautiful! ^^ Leave it to Kanno to give ro a new feel. I can’t wait for RO II.

Althought i find the intro theme and everland sounds more like its a boy signing, but who knows ^^.

When the RO II OST is relesed will be able to see the name of the voice.

GREAT WORK on the lyrics man. ^^ I have no idea what language it is either. Maybe she did like macross plu’s wanna be an angel and invented a new language?

Maybe its norse or something to add to the feel of the game. Who knows. Either way… i find it WAY better then RO I music. =D

Oh, Intro Theme and Everland are sang by a boy soprano… he’s Korean, his name is Yoon Hyeon Soo. The lyrics is definitely made-up, so we assumed it’s Gabriela who “wrote” them :)

  3. Matter Says:

Usually when I get to hear ‘made up’ languages, I have a bad feeling about it but somehow Gabriela has her ways too make it sound okay and even better (no wonder people often think Gabriela’s lyrics are real!)

Anyway, the Intro Theme is great. It really has a ‘Scandinavian’ feel to it. Even though the lyrics are made up, I can easily imagine white mountains and snowy landscapes where somewhere rusty adventurers are trying to get to their destination. I don’t think there was a better suiting opening theme for RO, ever.

Still, Hodo is my favorite. It has such a cheery tune to it, anyone could easily get off their feets and boogy with it. I can tell ya’; once RO II is out for everyone I bet half of the population will dance on this one like crazy.

Poem used to be my pro-choice before Hodo, it’s very calming and especially the verse part is very magical. The guitar gives a bonus.

I cried rainbows listening to Sakaba for the first time. It was just… Well, just listen’ to it and you’ll understand what I mean. If you still don’t get me, well… You don’t have feelings, sir.

Prontera Town has a rare upbeat sound to it, together with the pipes. It’s not my favorite, but certainly makes a great ‘town theme’ (or whatever you’d like to call it). You’ll often hear these kids singing and voices mumbling in the background…

Din Don Dan Dan no Fo, finally a ‘Non Final Fantasy Battle Theme’ but that doesn’t mean it’s not half as good! It’s by far one of the coolest battle themes I’ve heard in awhile (a looong while), it’s going to take some minutes before you’re going to hear the choir sing, but once you get there you’ve reached the best part (fiddles!)

    - Basically, I think Yoko Kanno did a job well done. Infact, I don’t think any composer would’ve done a better job. I really hope Yoko will consider to do more vg composing.

P.S There are alot more songs on the OST and some are better then the one’s I’ve mentioned above. All I can say is you won’t be dissapointed, I mean… Hell, it’s Yoko Kanno!

  4. anonimous Says:

if i remember correctly. i either heard or read somewhere a while ago cant quite remember which. anyway, the key point had to do with our natural ability to filter out bullshit languages or “gibberish” im not sure if it’s true or not but when i heard it the first time it sounded nothing like a coherent language. so that thought came to mind and hence my reading and commentary.
