Group Fan Covers + How To Get a Nicovideo Account

Nico Nico Douga is the Youtube of Japan, and there’s a wealth of fan material in it. Only, you can’t embed their videos, and you need to register to view them. Not all great videos in that site ever get to Youtube (and I’m too lazy to upload them, teehee), so it would be worthwhile to get yourself an account. TheNextWeb.com gives a detailed explanation on how to do this.

And moving on, here are some videos that AlexL pointed out to me. I believe there are people here who might want to do something similar to this ;) I am not sure how these collaborations happened, but it seemed to me that some of them were just picked up by other people and mixed their own instruments/voices into the originals. (How’s the Nyan Nyan Service Project my dears? :D )

    Oh man. That Sousei no Aquarion blew me away, especially since it’s covered by a guy – that made it more amazing. And the acapella was awesome, they’re both pretty awesome. (Now I’m ashamed to share mine bleargh.)

    Anata no Oto is AWESOME, as is the video. The energy by the band is awesome to look at. Shame can’t see this live xD

    That Lion band cover. Holy shhhhh the Screamer as Ranka in the beginning ROFL xD And I kinda like it! I liked the original version better though lol, but man the whole thing was great. Do these people know each other in real life or something? It looks as if the drummer and the guitarist do at least. (The bit in the beginning was funny.) Why did the Screamer’s video part showed some overlapping with a Darth Vader? Lol. Kinda creepy heh. I always wonder how he never seems to suffocate wearing that mask… And whoa on gathering those 20 people to sing o_o

    Triangler… man. And was it me or was there no vocals, only the original singers? I stopped about 2 minutes into it though, ’cause my internet was being wonky :|

    Love watching people’s customes – the Japanese take it one step higher all the time, lol! Yoko Kanno brings all the brilliant people together :’) Thanks so much for sharing, guys! I always love listening to covers, especially epic ones like these. Can’t wait to get started on our own covers later on xD And the Nyan Nyan medley is coming together, slowly but surely :D

    I take it that some of the band members know each other, but there are people who just gather the covers, ask for permission, put their own recording over it, then post it again. I think it’s on the same line of what Pippa did with her Yousei cover in the previous karaoke challenge. Getting a full band though… wow, too many talented people.

    Maybe I should put our SMS chants over at Youtube… XD

    For Triangler (Fight on Stage), it sounds like the vocals from the original singers. I think Fuumi-san was just the creator of the karaoke video on the bottom-right corner.

    Sousei no Aquarion acapella and Anata no Oto are my favorites. I love haloysy and Neko Kamen’s vocals.

    after watching these, i get why you’re cracking your head over what we should put in the video. i seriously thought that we’d be fine with just slapping on a picture of bobby for the duration of the SMS Chant XD

    The video for “Lion /w 20 Chorus” was so lovingly made!

    say… does anyone know where to get guitar chords for Macross F songs? :P i’ve been squinting at the Triangler nicoonico video for a few hours trying to make them out, but let’s just say it’s not easy on the eyes XD
