2008 Year-Ender Report
Hoho, the entry that was eaten by the database move. After this and a few more fixes here and there, we’re back on a roll
Year 2008 was pretty much a high year for Kanno as she had a main anime release, plenty of CMs, and more than a handful of tie-ups releases with other artists. It would seem that this year is her rest year, if no new announcements turn up.
Year 2008 Highlights:
- Kanno scores Macross F, Camouflage
- Maaya Sakamoto sings for Kanno once again
- Many CMs produced, including McDonald’s
- CMYoko+2 released, notably including Microsoft CM
- SMAP, Macross F CDs rank high in Oricon
- Hajime Chitose, SMAP, Origa, YOSHIKA releases include Kanno
- Covers of various Kanno songs aplenty
- Kanno wins TAF2008 Best Music
- Triangler wins 13th Animation Kobe Awards best Theme Song
- Kanno demos leak!!! @__@;;
- Voice Artist debut in Genius Party Beyond
Website-Related:
- Karaoke challenges are well-received
- Site is finalist for Anime Blog Awards
- Site goes down because of Macross traffic
- Database is rolled back and manually recovered (grrrr)
- Site becomes CDJapan Affiliate, Google Ads removed
- Many, many new Gabriela lyrics are added to the site
mai’s picks for 2008:
- Favorite Anime Songs: Diamond Crevasse, Ao no Ether
- Favorite BGM: Prologue F, Private Army, The Target, Zero Hour
- Favorite collab: SMAP: Jazz, Hajime Chitose: Megumi no Ame
- Favorite CM: Kanebo Blanchir
- Favorite Fan work: The Other Side of Lucy
For the year 2009, we’re looking forward to more announcement on the two other releases of CMYoko, the Macross F Movie, Maaya Sakamoto and May’n's CD releases. My wishlist for this year includes an announcement of new anime work (hopefully mecha-related too as I like that stuff), release of Origa’s Japan Railways CM song in CMYoko, more new music for Macross F movie, and another successful karaoke challenge (which I’m already trying to cook up in my head).
Any stuff I missed? What are your picks for last year and wishes for this year?

Wow when you laid it out like that, this has been a very eventful year @_@ Hope Kanno-san doesn’t burn out from all the work she’s been doing xD Brilliant woman, collabing with all her brilliant colleagues.
