Something tells me I don’t want to report this, but I still have to – the new Kanno-composed song in May’n’s new album sounds like a song Ranka would sing. Her voice too for a while there sounds like it’s Ranka’s. I actually thought, “This must be a mistake!!!” Sure we know Kanno is capable of composing such a bubbly pop song, so I prompted a research on Masaya Suzuki, the song’s arranger. Looks like Suzuki also has previous experience working as an arranger for anime theme music. Try listening to one of his arrangements, the Zettai Shonen OP.

I honestly don’t know what this song is doing in this album, the rest of it actually sounds like what I expect May’n to sound in her solo album. Why make the new Kanno song in this one so glaringly different from the rest of the album when we know that she can compose differently, right? Diamond Crevasse, Yousei *hint, hint*?! Even Lion sounds mature compared to that song.

While I’m disappointed with the prospect of the new Kanno song on this CD, I’m glad that May’n seems to be headed towards the right direction musically.
