Macross Website Credits only Kanno for Macross F
I was waiting for a while now for an update in the Macross website since it released this staff list for Macross:
Note that Yoko Kanno is the only one in the music staff. If October 2007 is the release of the anime (that’s next month for all of you who don’t keep track of dates), then they should have finalized the composers for the animation.
It only strengthens my theory that there is another compser, but that person would not make enough songs to merit a spot in the “composer” credits. Just like in Macross Plus, the song Information High is by CMJK, but they are not named beside Yoko in the credits because they made just one song.
I just don’t think they’d miss the other composer’s name if he or she made a substantial amount of songs for the animation. That’s kind of disrespectful, considering these are Japanese people we are talking about. But that’s just my hunch.

The whole “co-composer” thing is just ANN’s misintepretation of the initial announcement anyway, is it not? Or was there some official news mentioning another composer?

This is one of the news… I don’t know if ANN took their news from this one. And this article does not mention anyone else doing the music. So, ANN might have really had misinterpreted the news.

“Macross F (tentative)” is set in around 2070A.D.. F denotes “Frontier”; “Frontier” stands for the migration fleet which is the setting of the story. The story is about the fleet’s encounters with space monsters (or things to that effect) while on its course. It is planned to be a TV series with Kanno Youko handling music, Kikuchi Kouji as director, Kawamori Shouji as general director. An approx. 2 min. video was shown for the fans, who were hungry for more.
