NHK Special China OST Now Available in iTunes

Grand Funk Inc., Yoko Kanno’s label under which she produces most of her movie, TV and commercial music now has an official online label called Grand Trax. The site is powered by iTunes which allows you to download the songs or albums of several Grand Funk artists. I’m a little sad to note that none of the music that Kanno has done for advertisements are present in the site. Copyright issues perhaps? Companies can be really strict.

The NHK Special China~1200 Million People’s Liberation and Reform Original Soundtrack is now available through download for ¥150 per track or ¥1500 for the whole album. This is one of the rarer Yoko Kanno OSTs which have high auction prices over the internet, I bet most fans haven’t heard of it. Gabriela has a song in it named “China”. Check out this sample, and then check out the site!

I am blown away by the guitar player on Sayonara. A very haunting and beautiful performance.

Do you know what the documentary was about? I can’t figure out what happened in 1995 that would be the subject matter.

    Thanks!

Probably the year (1995) isn’t important… it’s the date the documentary could have aired. The title “China~1200 Million People’s Liberation and Reform” could be a hint on the contents though :)
